Okay just to clarify again, it's not ugly carpet, it's an ugly chair.
As for the gauges, I don't know much about electrics but I'll try and explain. The three gauge faces hook into a single wire with connectors tapped into it, in series fashion. This one wire goes to a little "box" where all the wires hook into each other (is this a distribution block?). Also coming out of this "box" is a wire with a dimmer ****, and the red/black wires to tap into the headlight power supply. I just got some T-connector thingies from Walmart and tapped into the wires as they come into the factory dimmer. As for the new dimmer ****, I fitted it onto one of those button-looking parts of the dash that are normally useless. Drilled a hole and made it look stock (well, almost)
