Pics of the EGT turbo 56k die

word these are just random pics i figured i'd post of my hybrid.

http://www.thegt.org/egt/parts2.jpg

started out like this, pile of crap and a jdm bpt motor (mazda 323gtx 1.8t rated @ 180hp 180tq)

http://www.thegt.org/tc/tc2.jpg

Dropped it all, except for the haltech. I was using the stock escort ecu and wiring for this setup, and the stock escort dump pipe back, not even 2" with stock cat/res/muffler lol i miss that.

http://www.thegt.org/tc/tc4.jpg

fresh from the swap.

http://www.thegt.org/egt/egt5.jpg

daytime shot of the int, currently no radio/spkrs

http://www.thegt.org/egt/gauges1b.jpg

night shot of int.

http://www.thegt.org/dyno/sheet.jpg

dyno with the stock motor, spearco fmic, stock ecu/harness, stock exh.. 8.8psi stock boost

http://www.thegt.org/egt/egt-t.jpg

shot of the car @lebanon with the above setup. my first time @ the track and i sucked so 14.8

http://www.thegt.org/egt/DSC01063.JPG

woop, just for the honda boys.

http://www.thegt.org/egt/DSC01187.JPG

shot of the custom 3" mandrel bent exh during development I threw the cat out about a week later lol. replaced w/a test pipe

http://www.thegt.org/egt/DSC01444.JPG

lebanon again with the exh on, 14.2@100mph

i dun really have pics of the haltech installed but theres nothing mich to see lol, it ran a 13.9 @ etown with the e6k untuned, and running lean like a mofo, never really cared to mess w/it since it was gonna be parked soon anyways.. god i wish i never dropped the registration.

http://www.thegt.org/images/1122/1122web2.jpg

a pic of my gtr turbo, im gonna be dropping in. equiv to a t04e im told, and it's also dual ball bearing.. only a little over 2k made i think.

http://www.thegt.org/images/1122/1122web3.jpg

gtr equal length mani. Im hoping for 350+whp with stock internals.. i just need a new clutch, some 750cc's a fuel rail and i wanna get some valve springs to get her to rev to 8.5k with out float.

i think thats about it bitch, a quick summary of the escort. enjoy and dont flame me. also, it's rocking the stock amber lenses now as show in one of the pis i think the clears were gay :P

haha, your intercooler sticks out of the bottom of the bumper, have you hit it on anything yet? you should get a custom coach.

ya haha, i was gonna rasie it during the initial mounting but then only like 2"s would be exposed. It's actually mounted a little higher than the bottom rad support so it doesn't scrape at all.

when i re-do the setup im gonna raise it, i dun wanna get a ricer bumper, so its crucial to keep the stocker. I'll probably just mock up an i/c sprayer or soemthing.

how difficult is that swap?(ie-mounts, wiring, etc) and how much are those 323 motors? can this be done on any Escort or just the GT

it can be done to any escort but its WAY easier to do it to a gt, you'll need a gt parts car pretty much if you wanna do it to any 1.9 escorts.

uses the same stock mounts, stock fwd tranny, harness is cake, only splice like 6 wires (color matching) extended one clip. hardest part as with most turbo setups is the piping.

oh and i payed 900+ship for my motor. they can be had for roughly that price from most jdm motor importers.

I might have to get into this ford crap, it's cheaper.

Re:Pics of the EGT turbo 56k die

dude seriously as far as swaps... it is. You could easily have a low 14/high 13 second escort for about 1400ish and it's easy as ---- to get much more power after that by makinf your own turbo upgrade. the motors are good for about 450whp with stock internals.

Any proof of this? Not calling BS here but I'd like to see it. Maybe I should buy my neighbors escort next year after all..

hrm only proof of the top of my head is ric's 'monster miata' that had made 399whp with the stock motor (head and block) he raced it a lot with that setup but blew it when he missed a shift and overrevved. you can even boost the stock i believe 91-92 escort gt motors, they are already tapped for coolant/oil lines. same as my motor but with *i think* 9:1 vs my 8.8:1 and the mazda b6t rods are good for even more hp if you wanna source some of them (usdm/jdm 1.6 323 gtx) its all about the tuning though

also the escort motors are just as strong as the gtx, i'm not sure if escorts came with the oil squirters though. either way besides the pistons the 2 motors are basically the same. and the n/a heads flow much better than the gtx heads. i have an n/a head waiting to be swapped on my egt this winter.

arent the 2.3 scorts the same motor as the turbo stangs/turbo merkeur's/turbo t-birds? it seems to me that they are. and also, didnt fold make a stock "high output head" for the escort?

2.3 escorts? the largest motor an escort got was a 2.0 and that was after my generation. i dun deal with the ford motors, my car is really based on a mazda platform, its a mazda bg chasis car, mazda brakes, suspension, motor.. only the shell/interior is ford. i dun even really like ford lol. the reason i got the escort was because its a 2dr hatch protege that isn't as ugly as the 323 and exspensive as the mx3.

i'd paint the bottom of the intercooler flat black so it won't be so noticable. the car isn't lowered so the height shouldn't be a problem

lol you remind me of my friend with the BPT swap. When he did that swap he said his car would kill my 12 second Integra when his car was only running 10psi.

Remember there are people with 300hp stock d-series too, doesn't mean its good or going to last

this is true but it doesn't mean that you can't have 350whp reliably. I'm not saying i can beat a 12 second anything, not evena 13 second anything lol.

I know you didn't say it'll run 12's, its just the way you talk you sound like my friend, very optimistic on power potential of the BPT ;)

Re:Pics of the EGT turbo 56k die

There's some kid around here with one of turbo 1.9L escorts. I've raced him from a roll and beat him, but never from a dead stop. His car is quick. He claims he has a custom manifold and a stock block. This car must have "hi-jackers" in the rear because the car drives around with it's ass way up in the air.

Here's a vid of it running.
These are the local street races that I go to...i've run numerous times down that strip you see in the vid. The escort's run is half way through the vid, if you see "Mugre's yellow hatch" you've gone too far, its right before that:

ne3ek your a slut. 400hp is possible out of the gtR turbo on 550cc's but it will make your injectors run at about 95% duty cycle. car looks good as always.
