Picked up my motor today, a few pics

I drove up to stillnoturbo's house today to look at his motor. Drove it around for a bit and runs good. Then we pulled it out so I can boost that bitch :D Sarah came along and took pics and held the brake pedal down for us. I've never taken a motor out before but it wasn't too hard. Setup is a Z6 block/tranny and y5 head. Henry hooked it up at $200 and even threw in some various other ---- for free. I'm probably going to get a new clutch from 88turbocrx but where is the best place to buy a new throwout bearing at?

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

Took like an hour and a half to 2 hours. We were stuck for almost half an hour on one of the axle nuts. After that though it went pretty smooth.

The clutches from stealthmode, LSDmotorsports come with a new pilot bearing and throw-out bearing and install tool thing.

Otherwise you could go to Vatozone and get one.

Is that a 96 Accord Wagon your rockn' there? My dad has one.

Yea man, Nice Valve Cover ;), remind me of jeffs b16.
Anyways all of the clutch kits come with pilot and throwout bearings. If you need a separate one for something else, we have them available on the site as well.

The car is a 97 Subaru Impreza wagon. Those were my dirty clothes already :P

Hmm thinking about getting the 6 puck unsprung clutch, I have just never driven one before and don't know if it's gonna be a pain to drive for a daily driver.

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

Cause my garage isn't very tall to pull it out the top and it's so much easier to drop it out the bottom cause you don't have to worry about smashing into ---- trying to angle that ---- for it to come out. Plus there put in from the factory from the bottom so why not take it out from the bottom? ::) Everything went pretty smooth besides the axles nuts were a nightmare. Took alil longer then I expected and hell we just drove the car minutes before and everything still hot as ----. Plus we decided to do this on an extreme hot and humid day so that didn't help out.
A bonus for me was John was a virgin at pulling a motor so I got to pop his cherry! lol. 8) Now it's time for me to finish my LS build and build my manifold and get this fucker in!! Here's a some eye candy on the build up.
B18a1 longblock from my local pick and pull for 150. They pulled it and loaded in my car. :) I took her home stripped her down and cleaned her up and painted it with high temp paint. Bought a ebay crank pulley since the stock one was chipped up pretty good and I've never had any problems with lightweight crank pulleys on my other engines.
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...n/142dd620.jpg
After I got my engine I'm like ahh ---- this is all downhill from here. It took me forever to find a reasonable price tranny. Found this hydro GSR tranny for 500 shipped and even got a shift linkage and starter too! Can't pass that ---- up.
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...n/1be31daa.jpg
Finally all the goodies I've picked up for this build. My forged internals I won on ebay a couple of weeks ago for 230 shipped! Eagle rods and SRP pistons. Blox manifold, act unsprung 6 puck, aasco 8lb flywheel brand new I picked up just the day before locally for 100! Two DSM T25's that are going on. Not pictured are ARP head studs also for some more icing on the cake. Just gotta start on my manifold now. Plan to run 15psi on this engine. Should be a nice grocery getter in my 4dr :P

I was just alil dirty but ran fine and we even took out and he got to drive it around so he got to see what he was getting and no surprises. Though if anything happens I told him I got his back and do whatever to help him out.

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

go with a sprung clutch disc, just alot easier on the drivetrain and holds the power just fine.

Twin T25's eh?... take it from someone who has already done it, not worth the time. Buy a fatty single and call it a day.

Is there going to be a burnout video on the B7 >:D

stillnoturbo 07-18-2005 11:51 AM

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

Yeah but I just like being different. I'm not looking for neck snapping power or to be chasing down vipers or some crazy ---- and I got the t25's for cheap and will cost me 130 to make my manifold. If I don't like it I just want to see what it's like. You can tell someone in word but sometimes people just have to experience for themselves.

HMTguy 07-18-2005 12:06 PM

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

Yea my b7 isn't gonna last too much longer. It has a pretty loud knock and just seems to get louder and louder. It was tuned perfectly so I am assuming it was just too much power for the motor. After I clean up this engine and tranny and get the new clutch it goin right into the 4 door. Maybe I will get a quick burnout vid on the b7 before I pull it...

take out the rev limiter via uberdata and make a video of how high you can rev the b7 before she pops

free reving, it will be above 9.5k rpm.......

leed 07-20-2005 01:33 AM

Re: Picked up my motor today, a few pics

I dont think a stock b7 could even rev to 9.5k. It would wheeze out by atleast 9000; in neutral even. lol

if ihad a shitty engine i'd definately see how high i could rev it before something broke, i wonder if the valves would float ad bend or if it would throw a rod

I would do that but with my luck a rod would end up owning my turbo. I will get a decent burnout vid though, and if you're lucky she just might pop

I'm a hardcore injen like that! I do everything in sandals! My ancestors did everything in just a strip deer skin so I need the keep the tradition going somehow. I weld, do swaps, make dp/chargepipes in my sandals. Hell if my wife was cool with it I'd ---- with my sandals on! I wear steel toes at work and hate it so the second I punch out and get in my car I put my sandals on. 8) Do asian do swaps in sandals Jeff?

I'm so injen I bored out Juilo's injector seals for his 450's sitting indian style in his garage and didn't even realize it till he started laughing at me. He was like "wow you really are injen. Your sitting cross legged indian style Henry! lol". I don't ---- around with ---- like this. 8) Jeff that gold valve cover was in honor of you! The LS's valve cover is getting painted gold too. I was testing it out first on that one to see if it was worthy enough. :P
