Parents bought a new Pontiac Solstice GXP
and I'm pretty impressed. 260 HP with a 2.0 4-cylinder (factory rated... not to the wheels obviously) with twin scroll turbo, minimal spool time, RWD, Limited Slip Diff. Curb weight is 3,000 pounds almost exactly... which isn't bad for a convertible.
It's a lot of car for the price (like 31k after all the bells and whistles), handles like a champ. I was looking up some stats on the engine and it's a 9.2 : 1 CR, not exactly sure what the stock pressure is set at... I think around 12 psi.
The only down side... it's a ------- automatic (5-speed)! I should have seen that coming knowing my parents. This is a apparently the first year they've had the option for an auto trans on the GXP... still, I'm a bit dissapointed with that decision.
Warranty isn't bad either... 5 year/100k mi for the powertrain, 3 year and 36k (I think) for everything else. Just thought I'd share since I didn't even think of this car as a "performance" vehicle until I got behind the wheel... recommended for anyone looking for new cars.

WHat a waste of money to get an auto tranny. I swear I can't drive an auotmatic I always feel out of control and I end up stabbing he brakes at stop signs looking for the clutch. And they waste gas. Try the gas milage spin on them and see if they'll exchange it before it's to late.
