Looks like an interesting toy, and the price is good in comparison to what it is new but it's not something for a beginner IMO.

For $325 shipped you could have gotten a 110v MIG capable of doing 1/4inch gas ready that is easy to work with. That thing looks like it will nickel and dime you to death in additional parts needed and I'm unsure about what it wants for a power supply. I think you should have gone with something a little bit more traditional - no offense to the seller, but I don't think it would be a good thing in your application Murdoc. Now on the other hand, I actually have that kind of batter combo laying around in deep cycle batteries as where I could use something like that. Granted my ideal combo would be a light weight mig and a nice even duty TIG.

Goodluck with the setup and let us know how it all works for you.

You're right, with the way it is now I have to spend a good amount just to be able to use it. There is an adapter cable that I would need to get in order to be able to use it off a battery, i think. And then I still have to buy a mask. So I guess I won't be welding with this any time soon. :-\ And having no instructions doesn't help, downloaded an online set, but having the original would make me feel more comfortable.

By the way, I traded my r/c car for it. If I was to fork out 325, I woulda gotten a different one. I wanna buy another one, but I just ain't got the money. I was gonna try welding with it anyways, but I think I value my eye sight more than welding some pipe. ;)
