i conceld carry daily with one in the chamber. but we can't open carry in florida. but if we could, i would. if someone is getting ready to start some ---- and they actually see a gun in plain sight on you, they think again really quick.

40 S&W will do all you need in a short semi-auto cartidge.

you sure that glock has and extended slide release? mine looks way different, like triangled that sticks out

and BDVT you should get the XD (M) match grade barrel, for more precisely placed shots

notice the smaller cutout of the frame and how the new release reaches back further, look at about the middle of the slide release thumb area.

Who wants half the punch with less capacity? stay small or go big. I perfer to have guns with common ammuntion that I can scavenge off dead bodies when the world ends. I am not hating on the .40, its good for what it is, but a 45 is better, and a 9mm isnt much worse. With a .45 you get a better punch, and with a 9mm you can carry more rounds.
