Most of the big name guys run MLS gaskets and don't fiddle around with o-rings, but I've seen a number of engines with o-rings pushing some power, and they at least don't hurt the situation.

When the piston is creating mad vacuum - either at idle when it takes a little longer for the intake valve to open, or at closed throttle decel where the engine isn't drawing in any real airmass to speak of but making a LOT of vacuum against the closed throttle plate - your headgasket is leaking from cooling jacket to combustion chamber.

This in no way shape or form means that the combustion gasses will enter the cooling jacket under boost! Headgaskets are funny like that, they can be a one-way leak between any combo of combustion chamber, oil, coolant, external. At least for right now; they are a degenerative condition.
