I'm building a d-series because i wanted a engine that bolted in with factory mounts

i'm building a Y because the dipstick is well clear of my turbo.

D can make plenty of power. With all my B series ---- collecting dust waiting on money, sometimes I wish I was still building a D.

Clean motor, have some fun with it, I remember when I was d-series, it was a lot of fun knowing if I blew something it would be cheap.....now with the big b I allways have the thought in the back of my mind $$$ :)

Looks nice!

How much piston to wall clearance are you running? In the second pic it looks to be a little loose.

You said you spent $1800 on that?! How?

Machine shop setup all my clearances (I dont have a good micrometer or bore gauge set), I just assembled it. I did plastgauge the bearings, though I don't remember what they were, i know they were within spec.

As for cost, all OEM parts, everything rubber is replaced with brand new honda packed stuff. I should take off ~ $150 though, I forgot the 2nd set of bearings was on the machine shop bill too. I bought bearings before taking it in. They recomended grinding, so then I had to buy set 2.

Same thing happened with the pistons, had vitara's, they had to bore it, so i bought *Nippon racing* they sent me stock bore, and they were press fit pin, so then i bought SRP's.
