just registered so i figured id introduce myself. yes i drive a vw, let the ---- show begin
project 1:
1984 VW rabbit
started this build with full intensions of turning it into a boosted 1.8l 16v.
After we ripped out the peice of ---- 1.7l 8v. we had some cleanup to do, we cut out the rain tray, and wire wheeled all the seam sealant, so it could be welded to stiffen up the front end.
next day my buddy picked up the 16v and we tossed her in that night
after a long pull, of chasing burnt wires and redirecting fuel lines, we couldnt get the ------- thing to fire. after a couple of days of ------- around she saw her first sign of life. We directed our attention to volkswagens best ever invention CIS, we couldnt get the car to idle for more then 5 minutes. we put a wideband on it and scratched our heads while it leaned the ---- out after a couple minutes of running time, after the neighbors came over and bitched us out for working late and making to much noise, me in all my rage wanted to try and get a ripper out of it, i didnt care how shitty it was running, i ended up getting egged while i was ripping down a street and then the car died as i turned into a mall parking lot
we pushed her home and i immediately ordered the following parts.
-All new controll arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, steering rack, rotors, brake pads, callipers, drums and shoes
-Stress bars, rear and front top mount and a subframe mount
-Strut towers and H&R ultra low coil overs
-034efi engine management
-Polly engine mounts and bushings
annnd this is how she looks today
lost interest during the spring, and picked up a new ride
1981 VW Scirocco
it has a 2.0L 16v swap, and tons of wiring issues. not to mention sloppy shift linkage. since its the same engine and chasis all ordered parts fit and bolt on. I had it run 15.2 at 98mph. im getting my head off the 1.8l ported and polished and getting a mannifold made. I need a turbo, intercooler, and piping. Im ordering new shift linkage from USRT.
as for the rabbit, its now a diesel project...
