Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

My corolla
BTW I called Jegs and spoke tp a guy there but he says
that they go 1.5" deep into the wheel, but the thickness of the wheel is only 3/4"
and he says it might not be safe. What you guys say about that, think it will be enough to hold??
I dont wanna be like that dude in the RX7 :S

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

those will look sexy, especially with the rolled on white paint. woot woot.

doing anything about the fender clearance?
and what power are you running to justify some big old meat(what size tires btw?)

alx954 06-16-2007 08:20 PM

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

Haha fenders are already rolled or should I say hammered out, and tires are
gonna be 215, 50's for now in the back and 205's up front. I'm gonna swap
in a Ka24de into it soon so a tq monster it will be ;D

PS you guys think I can just have the holes countersunk instead???

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

just get some new wheels. those things look like ------- truck wheels. :l if you must use those hidious things, get some longer studs. it isnt rocket science. i mean...if you were gonna bolt something together and the bolt wasnt long enough...what would you do? Get a longer bolt right...well...sounds like a great idea.

Racintweek 06-16-2007 08:39 PM

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

215's on 9" will not work with the low profile you are gonna have to run to make them fit under the fender. not enough sidewall to stretch

alx954 06-16-2007 09:19 PM

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

The guy I got them from had 195 50's on them, why
wouldnt 215's fit :P

Eville140 06-16-2007 09:28 PM

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

I'm pretty sure they make those type of lug nuts with a shorter shank. You could always just cut some off so they are not to long though.

But you really do need longer studs, With the stud not sticking out past the face of the rim when you put the lug nut on none of the threads will be up in the hex section. So the only thing holding your rims on is the thickness of the shank. So the tops can just pop off.

Looks tits though, look even better with a some stretched tires

because a 195 belongs on a 6"-6.5" wide wheel...

I never knew that. I've ran 195's on 7" wheels for years on quite a few different vehicles. :l I guess I was just lucky it didn't fall off the rim? :1

I don't mind the wheels besides the gold painted centers. Should just strip off the gold and get all of it polished. Remind me of SSR MK-1's

My original wheels on my 280Z and the stock wheels on Hachi used that setup where the stud barely stuck out.

i really dont see the point of stretching a 195 on a 9" rim, why not just run a tire that fits your rim?? or better yet buy a rim that fits your car

any you guys bitched about my TA with rims like that when they dont even protrude past the fender only the sidewall of the tire does.......i must be missing something here? anyways those rims are no more.... well at least the wide ass front tires. pro street ftw!!!

i think he mean you want the stretch so you aren't prone to rubbing/damage. you want it to stretch to "tuck" better.

Not kidding, 4ag just cost too much to get a good
tranny for it. Damn bellhousing costs about $600,
and I can do the entire swap for less then that.

::) Uhhhhh, do you realize how much $$change$$ ur gonna have to invest into a KA24de for it to be this TORQUE MONSTER u speak of?? Those engines are rated at 135 crank hp(don't know about the torque #'s right off hand) from the factory...They dyno at around 85-90hp...lol...I'd DEFINITELY start with a better platform than that engine...

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

What money, basic turbo kit on those things and they make over 300tq
stock on low boost. So I dont see your point. + they make more like 130hp at the wheels
stock.

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

ARP Wheel Studs will fix that problem, for about $13 a corner.

https://static.summitracing.com/glob...100-7703_m.jpg

Just pick the length, send us the ARP part number, and we can order them up for you.

Alright man, if you say so...Guess you can't expect much more from someone who goes to the trouble of puttin' rims on their car w/o ANY tires mounted yet :-\

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

WELL, I can't post it on the INTERWEB, but I'm sittin' here lookin' at the dyno results from a '90 240SX w/ the 2.4L SOHC KA24DE(it is over 200k miles) and it's making a whopping 86.2hp at the wheels and was clocked at 16.5@84.2mph....yeah, it's gettin' pulled in favor of a SR20DET...but that 86hp should turn those beaner wheels you have over pretty good...

hondaunlimited 06-18-2007 09:35 PM

Re: New wheels!!! but a problem.......

what about a sr20det swap + ka24de block, given you build the block to withstand that kind of power??
