New toy -----> update with track time

I just picked up a 1999 Mitsu Eclipse. Its a RS with the 420a in it. it has 66k miles on it and its a 5-spd. I picked it up for 5.5 from a friend. he Jsut got a '06 WRX TR. Ill get pics up as soon as possible. I was jsut wondering what yall though about FI. the Hahn Racecraft kit is making like 275 to the crank off 7psi. i figured i could do better with some HMT knowledge that i have learned over the years. i was thinking about running the t3-t4 t04e 57 trim turbo best for a 1.8 (the 420a is of course a 2L)and either dual SMIC or a big FMIC dont know yet. Jsut wondering if anyone on here has turboed a 420a as well.

i always wanted to build a turbo kit on an n/a eclipse, there arent any of them around here, it would be fun to beat guys with the 4g63 then pop the hood and show them its a 420a :y i think a stock 4g63 mani should bolt right up, then find a used 16g or 18g that will bolt right up, slap a cooler on it, build some chage pipes, throw in a set of 450's and an afc and run the hack on that bitch, it should hang with some modded 4g63's

pretty sure the 4g63 mani isnt even close...not sure what kind of tuning stuff is out there, most ive heard of just set up a return line and run an fmu with a base adjustment. A friend of mine used to run 23 lbs on a built 420, scary car. they can spool some big ass turbos, id stay away from the hahn kit because i wasnt impressed with it at all (log mani, goofy turbo)

Re: New toy

im also pretty sure the 4g63 mani wont bolt up. my friends got a built 420a in his eclipse and he put down 296@19psi. Pretty weak for a forged bottom end

he has the star stage 2 kit

pete who are you talking about. there is also a red tubo neon in bristol with the hahn kit.

its about 230ish whp.

if u want to do a hmt kit, i could slap u together a 420a log.

woah hotsex i need to sell the rex fisrt but ill keep that in the back of my mind and hit you up when the time calls for it. By the way anyone running a dual SMIC Setup. Also do i have to run the hack or is there another way to control fuela nd timing and what not. Im looking to beat my boys stock TR - Ej25T 230hp at the crank and AWD with my FWD 420a. It will be a big task but im up for it. hell he said he would be impressed if i just turbo it.

Re: New toy

Ive been looking at the hahn racecraft kit and trying to figure out how they jumped a grand in pricing just by turning up the boost to 8psi and a bar and plate intercooler. I mean that is 2 gs for the stage one and that jsut isnt worth it. Hey hotrex what size piping would you use for the manifold n ----? they are running the super 16 g on both stages so i think i may run the same unless i can find a decently priced t3/t4. also does anyone knwo what size the bar and plate they are running on that stage 2? i mean ill jsut pick up a JRC 8" and after i built the kit HMT style ill pic up some internals and boost 2 bar.

Re: New toy

don't go with dual SMICs....get a nice FMIC.

Re: New toy

Yeah im just gonna go with a JRC 8" FMIC. I Still need to talk to a few DSM guys so i can ask about the charge piping cause im just gonna order some bends and use silicone couplers and do all the piping up myself probably at my old HS.( My old shop teacher is OG like that he also has mig/tig/arch welder :) ) Im going to run a 3" upgraded Dp for a GST off the turbo and then use a kteller.com catback kit to do up the rest. Oh yeah Hotrex i wont need it yet but i was wondering if you can weld on a WG flange to that 420a log you offered to make. im going to run an external 38mm tial...almost forgot would like it to be ac compatable ( Sorry for all the request man but i live in florida - ac a must). just hit me back up with the price and what not.
