I've seen carbon fiber dash kits, carbon fiber sunroofs, carbon fiber hoods, carbon fiber hatches, carbon fiber fenders, carbon fiber doors, carbon fiber bumpers... all we need now are carbon fiber side skirts, carbon fiber roofs, and carbon fiber rear quarter panels :P

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

i don tthink it looks that bad, its definately better than an unpainted bodykit

Having no bumpers is better than an unpainted body kit.

I hate ricey ---- but I have a soft spot in my hart for real carbon fiber. 8)

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

Yeah CF bumpers and fenders and ---- have been out for awhile now. No ---- if it's real CF without a fiberglass shell or just a CF skin then I'd rock that. How is it rice cause it's not OEM? Hell I'd take CF doors in a heartbeat cause doors are heavy as ---- but too bad CF doors are a major loot. You'd rock a unpainted CF hood? Whats the difference? Now an unpainted body kit is just your sponsored by Team Uncle Bens.

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

Damn those look like carbon kevlar since just straight CF can't be dyed whereas kevlar can be dyed hot pink if you wanted. I'd take those doors but if you ever got hit then say good bye but I ain't buying ---- to meet DOT crash standards. :P. How much do stock doors weigh anyway like a ballpark figure? That chick isn't even flinching on lifting that door either.

Good luck to you in a side impact ??? But for a race car they would definately be worth it.

i'v seen a 90% carbon fiber NSX and i thought it was pretty damn nice....
bmw makes a m3 thats mostly made out of plastic and carbon fiber and it hangs with ferraris and lambos...weight reduction is key. I dunno i'd rather it be painted but whatever.

actually i'd take the cf door in a side impact over a steel door any day. why do you think F1 cars are completely made of cf? they are designed in such a way that the cf absorbs the impact. if laid properly it can be stronger than just about any other material out there.

i have about 5 yards of cf and a 5 gallon pail of resin. i hope to be making a mould in the summer to make a cf moon roof for my crx. if it turns out good it could me a new product for me. :D

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

I like CF, especially if it is quality stuff. My buddy has a Fiber Images hood that is extremely light, you can pick it up from the latch with your pinky finger. I think it might weigh about 11 or 12 lbs. I dunno, certain body kits and comsmetic pieces I like, others I don't. I don't like any thing that is extreme or over the top. On the same token, I like a really clean or JDM looking car too, I think it just depends how it is all put together. That's just me though :-\

tranceminister 01-02-2005 06:27 PM

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

Looking at the pictures I wasn't sure if the inside was completely CF or Fiberglass :-\ Also F1 cars have full roll cages which will protect the driver. More than likely some nut just bolting these onto a street car and getting into a side impact could be at risk for serious injury. I doubt these doors were built with a serious impact in mind. How many C.F. hoods out there have you seen break? And alot of them were top quality :-\ It just makes me a little nervouse.

I should make a carbon fiber dildo in the shape of my penis, or in the shape of hotrex's penis if I want to save supplies for another project.

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

There was a full carbon kevlar S2000 I saw online some time ago. It was crazy light, I'm sure.

The rear of the car would be tough, cuz it is a huge section.

AgentMurdoc 01-04-2005 02:39 AM

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

there was a company a few years ago that made the body of a porsche boxter carbon fiber. It was pretty cool to see the sexy weave. I saw the kevlar carbon fiber supra, the body kit was ugly and the car looked like ---- in my opinion. :-\

stillnoturbo 01-04-2005 07:24 AM

Re:New RICE carbon fiber bumpers...

I saw that s2000 and that looked dope since it looked like Whoolio Boostemante's rattle signature paint job since it have just a dry carbon fiber with no clear coat. Yeah that Supra looked dag nasty since it was like a piss yellow kevlar completely and it had this nasty body kit. :-X
