Wait, so you replaced the rings and bearings when the motor only had 30,000 on it?

There really isn't a ring or bearing set that is going to do anything differently than the oem stuff. The bearings go bad with lack of lube, and the ring lands should break way before the rings.

Re: New Motor, 1000 Miles?

His motor's pretty much rebuilt from the ground up. All new bearings (not sure what brand, probly acl's or somethin like it) new gaskets, piston rings. I told him it needs to go for 1000 miles to let the rings seat properly and to let the bearings break in. I think thats playin it safe. The motor really didnt need the rebuild, he just felt safer doing it on this motor than the one that came in the car, due to the fact that it had less miles and he felt it would be a better platform for the rebuild.
But yea, i think he should drive it another 600 or so. Or should I just "boost that biotch"?

>:D Not that i know anything about "playing it safe with boost"....

But I think you should boost that car ASAP! just remember "It doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile.. WINNING IS WINNING!!" so if you blow your motor don't sweat it!!! Vin Diesel, Paul Walker & the "mad scientist" will fix it! O0 :8 :1
