New Honda in the Garage......You probably won't like it hahahaha

So I sold the 2000 integra, get offered another position, same company, more travel, around 30 more miles, but a lot more money. So I say yes, what's another 25 minutes a day, highway miles no traffic BS. The WRX kills me on gas, almost $500 a month now + more travel = no way. Also my insurance just shoot up, almost trippled, no reason at all, just Florida and insurance companies, from $1200 a year, $100 a month to $3500 a year. HELLLLLLL NOOOOOOOO.

I decided to go get a Scion xB, pretty good on gas, and looks decent, well I like them a bit, and I'm a big and tall dude, so I liked the room. The guy at the dealer was an Indian, a Dot indian, and he was a prick. Would not do anything, came out saying I needed $4,000 down and payments of $489. The price after a bunch of stupid dealer fees went up to $17,900. I was like I'll go buy a BMW for that kind of money, even if it is a used 325. That's it no offers nothing. I leave pissed off and go to Honda, right across, thinking of the Fit.

I want to see if it is comfortable enough. They had none in stock, nothing in Florida available either. So I start checking out the new civic. They only had one 2dr manual, it was an EX with a shitload of extras. It was $21,000, for a civic...nah....So I start checking the Element, base price $21500 on the EX. I was like I rather have that than the gay civic everyone will rice out. They found a brand new 05 they still had in the lot, manual and some good features. Well to make the deal they went down to 17k, less than the Scion, still boxy and roomy, torquier than a mofo and well I like it. Only had to put down $600 down to cover the tag and stated fees, and the payment is $300 a month. Just what I wanted, something I can't really molest too much, just a daily driver.

With my impulses and a civic or a scion I would have been buying parts left and right for them. Don't want to do that again. I'm just dropping it, some nicer rims and tints, that's it.

WRX is on sale, I'm going to part it out. I like the car but it's getting too expensive to keep :'(.
Also 92 integra for sale. once I fix up my credit a bit better, then I might get something nicer.....

and for those that didn't read anything, here's one picture.
I'll take more later......

Nice personally don't like those but seems like you got a good deal...I bought my Mazda used from a toyota deal and as soon as i walked in they tried to set me up with a scion, which I think are all ungly and yea starting price is cheap but once you add all the normal options its just as much as any other "nice" car...civics are over priced now too

17000 is hella cheap for an element, just think about the space, the room and that it is a 2.4 not some shitty 1.5 that barly pulls the car. :y

FYI i know a few ppl with their element becasue ppl need the 2.4 block to do hybrid K24s :X

hahahahah exactly, just turned 25 last week, 6/6/06, that's right bitches 666 so you better watch out :S.....
This is just so much more comfortable.
I was looking at pictures of the WRX and I would rather sell the whole thing, like it is, like you said, it's just that nice.

I got the warranty extended for free, I love my negotiating skills, and yes I checked before signing it wasn't added, to 4 yrs 48k miles.....but if I end up modding it, I will lose that :1 :1

I'm just starting to feel out of place with a modified loud as hell car, like the guys that are old but still act like they are 18....you now the type. If I sell the WRX I'll end up getting a TL or something like it for my real car, this is a daily driver mainly. Can't beat the space, comfort and price. That K24 feels awesome by the way.....Who nows what I'll end up doing, hopefully I can control the urges, but I'm already checking out ebay...lol....

there you go.......I'm ready to get rid of the WRX, I guess this will replace it for a little while, maybe for more than a little while....I wanted a new car, or maybe a year old. This was a good deal, unless I wanted to drive a Hyundai or Kia, there was nothing better in the price range. Even cars that say they start around $15k will end up closer to $18k after all the fees and taxes, so I got more car for less.....Hell if I'm happy, shut up..... :-* :-* ;) :8

I mean honestly if the WRX was going to cost me a little over $1k a month, that's just ridiculous, I hate Florida insurance rates, but can't do anything about it. For that much i can have two other new cars and still some money left.

hahahahah at $500 a month, gas prices as of right now, it would take 3years :1....sure, but I'm not paying 17k right away....that's the difference. Still it is more convenient and comfortable for what I'll be doing.

I found this, but no way in hell I would pay that much for a kit, rather lose a leg or something....

$500 a month is a lot...

right now i get about 150-175 miles for 20 bucks of super (its about 3.25-3.40 here)

and i put 20 bucks in about every 3 days. so i spend about 220 bucks a month in gas. (for work only) probably around 300 if you count weekends and stuff

See I get corrupted easy.....gotta stop searching before getting any ideas...... :-\

Yeah I drive right now about 40 miles to work, plus anything else I do in the week and weekend, I have to fill up the tank every 2.5 days, almost 3 times a week, at $45-$50 everytime. So it might be even a little more than $500. The power plus AWD plus the long drives are killing me. It was ok while the gas was around $2-$2.50, but at $3-$3.50 it gets old.
Also now work will be about 70 miles

Maybe, but not really, the initial price is so high you have to wait a few years to see any savings really, hybrids are stupid

The only thing that worrys me on the insight is, what happens when the batterys go bad, or the electric motors. I can't see those being cheap at all.

HondaTuner 06-12-2006 02:07 PM

Re: New Honda in the Garage......You probably won't like it hahahaha

Yeah.. I've seen many people that have gone quite a few miles (almost to 200,000) and didn't have to replace the batteries. And with a few modifications some of them got 85+ LMPG

You're right. I guess I missunderstood that you were only needing better gas mileage and spent 17,000. For better gas mileage only may I suggest a 1987 honda accord? lol.

Listen Mr. Stealthmode. He doesn't ------- want your problem solving abilities here, no matter how good(see: smart ass) they may be!

$1000 1987 Accord DX = 30+ MPG + Cheap Fixer-upper parts + Old car insurance

VS

$17000 2005 Element EX = 21/25 MPG + Extended warrenty + New car insurance

That's a toughy...

I hate all the Plastic crap that comes on that car. Good 'deal' though on getting them to drop it to $17000 though. I would have gone for the Civic personally, but that's just me.

I never understood extended warranties further than making them more money. I buy the car because it WON'T break down, and they make the car to not break down. ???

Re: New Honda in the Garage......You probably won't like it hahahaha

too lazy to read all those posts, but check for any recalls it may already have. it seems its a crapshoot but some elements have a problem of the rear door cracking the windshield and can bend the frame if its not fixed. i saw it happen on my senior pic photographers car, bought it brand new (04 i think) and by last december he had a crack halfway down the windsheild from the top and his passenger door leaked. something about the rear door is super heavy and isn't sufficiently supported

Donald125 06-12-2006 08:02 PM

Re: New Honda in the Garage......You probably won't like it hahahaha

I guess the whole point of a new car is reliability, not having to worry about broken down of having to dump a few hundred bucks for (at leats ) the first couple year or so..

88crxSi 06-12-2006 08:53 PM

Re: New Honda in the Garage......You probably won't like it hahahaha

why didnt you look into a diesel? they get AWSOME milage. the VW golfs aren't too bad. good fit and finish, the new ones dont sound like the old ones... some get like 50+mpg.

i know you said you didnt want a kia or hyundai. but recently hyundai has been making leaps and bounds in terms of quality and price.

i really like the new Sonata's. 5spd, v6 230hp and gets 39mpg highway. not to shabby, plus it comes std w/ air, pwr everything, air bags etc. they start @ 20k CDN$ but that only gets you the 4cyl (mine you its got like 165hp, so its not bad either). it won new car of the year for a reason.

but i hear ya..you want a nice new(er) reliable car, thats why we got the acura. it may be a 2000 but it had pretty low milage. we took out the 1yr warranty and it paid off! the water pump started to leak, %50 deductable + i slipped the acura tech guy the cost of a t-belt and i got that done for free. warranty paid for itself right there.

good luck, new cars rule. .. but only a 4yr? alot of companies give 5+yrs for free (read hyundai), my brother got a 2001 focus zx3 w/ a 7yr bumper to bumper on that biatch! score!
