Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again

|
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
dude I used to drive a na dodge shadow, $550 drove it 4 a year. ------- ugly, canary yellow! I still pulled some ass though. Looks good man, hows the suspension? Mine felt like I was floating on top of the road and not really driving.
Scottsi, not to bandwagon, but could you add something positive once in a thread? hate hate hate! wtf? |
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
new shocks, still does'tn handle that well though it is a shadow after all and at the stock ride height, well scott I guess since I own it now the previous 108,000 miles boosted are'nt good enough for you. its a daily driver and I plan to keep it fairly stock so I hope I don't blow it up.

its kinda slow but its not too bad for a stock car, its an auto which kinda sucks but it was a good buy, and for whoever asked why I keep buying ugly cars, I like ugly cars. Seriously my first car was an 84 300zx turbo talk about ugly |
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
I highly suggest going over to turbododge.com, boostedmopar.com, or ------------.com for any help or modifications to your new ride. I personally have had 3 turbo dodge vehicles and loved them.
First thing to do with that car is to ditch that tiny damn mitsubishi TE04H turbo and get a garrett on that manifold. Then, get rid of the stock intake piping and put a huge intercooler in the front of that thing. Next, open up the exhaust with a 3" swingvalve assembly, down pipe and exhaust, with either no muffer or a magnaflow muffler. After all is said and done, get a custom calibration from ---------------.com or try your luck with D-Cal or Chem software and make your own calibrations. Then crank the boost like no others. Believe it or not, early dodge turbo motors are really stout and can handle insane amounts of boost. Right now Stephane, oner of a charger from SMP in Canada, is running 9's in the quarter mile. So power is definately attainable. Good luck and beautiful car. Wink |

If you ever have a headgasket failure, get a Mopar Performance unit. All of the high boost turbo dodge's are using them with bearly any failures. |

The only problem he might have with this trans will be if he does many peg-legged burnouts and popps the differential pin through the case. The 3 speed autos in these things are bulletproof beside that damn differential. Differential pin savers are a recommend item when you do any work on these transmissions. |
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
Clean 88 es man!
I have a white 88 es, it was a stick car stock but im swapping in a auto... all the fast TD guys run them. The motor is out and currently all over the shop. Its getting some more go fast parts and some arp goodies. The plan as off now is to push 25-30psi out of a s60 turbo, and then spray it. Shooting for 11's on a stock bottom end! I have a 89 CSX to (shelby shadow) and it has the normal Garret/3inch/18psi and shouldnt have problrems running 13's when the track opens. On slicks of course. Dustin |

Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
thanks for the info and comments guys, right now I'm pricing out an exhaust since the stock one has a leak right before the muffler so I'm just going to do the whole turbo back. Probually 2.5'' all the way or 2.5'' downpipe to a 3'' catback with no cat preferrably
|
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
there would be no point in a 3" exhaust, or even a 2.5"dp into 3"....
the exhaust is only as strong as the smallest point, so you probably won't see any gain over full 2.5" over 2.5"dp into a 3" exhaust... the only thing the 3" exhaust is going to give you is, the right to say "ohh i have 3" exhaust" |
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
LHS?
I love them. I read somewhere the the srt4 motor and that one had parts that work well togethers. Crank, pistons, etc etc. Not sure if the head can be swapped. |

They are the leading FWD Mopar venders for such items. I highly recommend that you get rid of that 2.25" swingvalve housing as well. Or you can get up with Racing Solutions and get all the mandrels and straight pipe to custom make your own setup. Just remember one thing. When you put a free flowing exhaust on that motor/turbo combo, you'll have a problem with boost creep. I'll garanty it. The smart way to go is just repair the pipes that are leaking right now with a Dynomax over axle kit until you can replace the mitsubishi turbo with a garrett unit. It's part #17488. You can get them from Jegs for under $90 before shipping. The kit comes with the over axle pipe, muffler, and tip. You will more than likely have to get a bushing reducer to make it fit on your stock intermediate pipe. Wink |
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
Dont bother with exaust untill you upgrade the turbo or you will get MASSIVE creep. Trust me... been there and done that. lol.

Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
For some reason, when you open up the exaust on a car with a mistu turbo it wants to creep. Ive heard the WG hole can be ported, but the turbo isnt worth the trouble. Just watch the forums and pick up a good garret t3, and swap that on.
|
Re: New daily driver, I'm boosted again
I've been browsing those forums like crazy lately and have learned a few tricks, and quite a bit about the cars themselfs. My problem is I don't want to replace the exhaust twice I'd rather just do it all at once. Did'nt the garrets come off of the earlier cars I beleive I think I sold one like a little over a year ago for like $20

The pre 88 turbo cars all came with garrett turbochargers. The non-intercooled turbos will have to be slightly modified in order to work on a push through setup. This just requires clocking the compressor housing, modifying the wastegate bracket for proper adjustment, grinding the turbine housing so it clears the intake manifold #3 runner, and getting an adapter flange for the inlet. All of the intercooled dodge turbos are garretts. Those are pretty much a direct swap in. The only Mitsubishi equipped turbo cars are the 88+ non-intercooled motors. Reguardless of which garret you get, you will have to get the correct oil pressure and coolant hoses. They do not have the same fittings as the mitsubishi turbo you currently have. I can't stress this enough...... DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!!! For modification of the early garrett TI (non-intercooled) turbos, go to www.thedodgegarage.com. This site is basically the BIBLE for any modifications for your turbo dodge vehicles. Wink |

Porting the WG hole is a decent idea. However, the turbine housing itself is just too small. Any efforts to alleviate boost creep with a mitsubishi turbo and a free flowing exhaust is a futile effort. Unless you cork up the exhaust with a less than ideal muffler. But then why put on a large exhaust system in the first place? |
