So figure $40k for a nice one making 700-800hp.. $40k into an LSx will get you a fuckton more. Oh yeah, have fun with the old Hemi valvetrain ;D There are no big/small block Hemi's....

---- 10k into a lsx youd be around a thousand horsepower.

The E code hemi darts (Factory produced track cars) had 650ish WHP, no warranties, lightweight fenders., no mirrors, and a few other things that the rest didnt... Usually, they werent even painted either.

As a side not, American Muscle Car on Speed Channel did an engine dyno test of some of the biggest muscle car era V8's, and the 426 street hemi put out over 750ish crank hp. Not too shabby for something rated at 425 :S Wish they did things like that today.

Yeah, in stock trend the newer, lighter car will probaly be superior to the older car in terms of acceleration(and probaly many other terms). But if you put equal amounts of money into both engines, which do you think will respond better to the money you put into. How much will it cost you to supercharge or turbo the new gen Hemi engine with all the OBD2 and emissions bs you have associated with that engine. Now compare that to the $$ needed to boost the small block, CARBURATED hemi. I wonder what FearsomeDan has in his sbc?? Bet it wouldn't take much more to do tha same to the hemi...

OBD2???? Chrysler runs CAN-BUS on all their new cars...
