someone didn't see the burn eurotrash thread.

the srt-4 is a neon, nuff said.
the gti sucks, because its a VW
the chevy cobalt SS has a huge stupid wing on it
the RSX-S is overrated, the base rsx makes the same tq 2000rpm sooner.

i poop on all the choices.

why new? once you drive it off the lot, its 1/3 less the price already..

used cars arent bad, and I mean maybe 2-3 years old can save you $$..

I for one would get a NINETY-something NSX if I had 25k to spend.

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

yeah, if you go slightly used, you will be happier. 02 wrxs are dirt cheap with low miles. i have been lookin at jetta GLIs lately, and if you look hard, you can find an 02-04 loaded with low miles for 16-18k still a couple years left on drive train warrenty

tukinnam 06-12-2005 08:23 PM

You can get an NSX for under 25k? Yea... do that.

im guessing with high miles, and the older ones aren't as dependable as the newer ones, so it defeats the purpose of it being an NSX.

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

you can get a zo6 vette with around 60-70k for under 25k

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

Gti, but forget the vr6. Go with the 1.8t. That motor is much more easier to mod with a bigger aftermarket, even if the turbo is the size of my fist ;) A chip on those cars will give you 25-30whp.

i have been starting to think about that too, but i wonder how dependable they are when you start ------ with them. there is a salesman at my dealership that always has his in the shop with MAFS issues and other misc. problems, and his is stock :o

pontiac is still selling those gto's.

davcivic 06-12-2005 09:12 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

the new mustang gt is $25k and has 300hp and runs the 1/4 in 13.1, but it still a mustang.

I saved $10k buying my wrx used with only 20k miles on it. If you check around anything that is only 2 or 3 years old you will save a lot of money and some of those will still have some warranty left and should be reliable

solfly 06-12-2005 09:19 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

i have no idea what i want to buy

or if i even want to buy something or just keep the fleet i have now

Doofnoil 06-12-2005 09:25 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

and the thing about the car losing 1/3 it's value off the lot is bunk. You just paid the dealer 1/3 more than what the car was ever actually worth

solfly 06-12-2005 09:29 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

maybe ill just turbo the CRX

solfly 06-12-2005 09:32 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

heres what i have now

93 del Sol Si...daily driver fun to drive but not really fast, it's an automatic
91 CRX Si..just got it
89 S-10 Baja frame off resto V8 project, should be done at some point this summer
88 GMC Jimmy parts donor, soon the be chopped up and shipped out
87 Silverado tow rig/snowy day ride
86 Samurai, off road built, im in a wheeling club
84/85 SJ410, future resto project

so i could seell off some of the fleet and go new or just keep the fleet and make the CRX fast

i dunno

13.1 my -------. Its a 2005 model and ford still isn't moving into ls1 territory which debuted in 98. Owned real bad...

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

I take it you are a chevy fan...

I have not seen one at the track yet, but all the car magazines that have, report similar numbers. Now when the new shelby cobra comes out it should be pretty interesting.

We'll see, I'm neither a ford nor a chevy fan so I really don't care

Special ED 06-12-2005 09:51 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

holy crap, i just did a little research on 1.8t tuning parts

neuspeed: p flow intake + p chip = 40 hp at the flywheel

and a fmic with revised plumming will give you 20+ more at the wheels

what a wonderful engine, i think the money saved on getting a 1.8t will more than make up for the time that it's in the shop ;D

the turbo back exhausts look way spendy, but i bet those are an incredible difference

davcivic 06-12-2005 09:54 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

yeah I heard the vw guys do a lot of chipping, on their cars. the 1.8t seems to be a better engine choice if you are going to mod it

Special ED 06-12-2005 10:02 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

i read that they have chips that reprogram your cruise controls to toggle different performance modes like performance, daily driving, and one i read about was "valet" hahaha that would be funny if there was a mode where the car underperformed so some smart ass punk valet couldn't rip on your car.

wonder if they void the whole warranty ?

96civdx 06-12-2005 10:03 PM

Re: new cars..under $25k...over 200hp

Well if I had a choice I would be all over a wrx but my friend loves his 1.8t and the aftermarket on those are amazing. If you are planning to seriously mod it the vr6 would not be the way to go i have even driven my friends 1.8t and they are fun little machines.

I'd go for the 2002 WRX and swap the 04 JDM sti motor in it.

People want to resist the temptations of the dark side. Me on the other hand could care less and finally came to the realization that Mustangs are too much fun
