Re:Need some computer GEEK info
I would get a router with an internal firewall also. Ever since I got cable our other house house I used a router and never had problems. I don't use anykind of virus software either, I just run ad-aware and spybot every once in a while. When I moved back to my old house I was too lazy too hook the router up so I just went straight from the modem to my computer. It fucked my computer up good and I got some virus that was sending out spam emails (I had no clue) so my internet company shut my internet off! After reformatting my computer and hooking my router up I haven't had any problems and no pop ups.
I also have a friend that recently got a bunch of pops ups and viruses and ---- like that. It was so bad they couldn't even get on the internet and use there computer. This was like 3 days after they reformatted the computer also! They had the computer hook up straight from the modem, so no firewall or router in between. They had norton personal firewall, anti-virus, and I install add-aware and spybot, but nothing fixed it. I just suggested hooking the router they had up and reformating the computer. This pop up and virus ---- it getting out of control!

Re:Need some computer GEEK info
OMG dude, if u have a router, yer fine, just get ad-aware, some kind of virus protection (prefrebably norton) and monitor yer **** sites, and you'll be fine...so damnit, do it already and stop askin the same question over and over again
Also, norton has a system monitor, so if u go to a site and it gives u a virus from just bein there, norton will let u kno that instant

FIREFOX. http://www.mozilla.com
4.5 megs. Tabbed browsing. Faster than IE. Using it now. Install it and you'll forget what a popup is.
