Need ideas for a new daily driver.
I will be starting a new job in a few months and i need a car i can drive customers or suppliers around in. I don't think the civic with stiff urethane mounts will leave the impression i am going for. I still want something fun to drive as i will be driving it every day. I will be driving it in the winter so AWD would be nice but not required. 250 or more HP would be nice and somewhat decent fuel economy. So far i have considered:
BMW 330xi (USED) Saab 9-2x Aero (USED) Subaru WRX (USED OR NEW) Volkswagen Jetta TDU (USED OR NEW) Volvo of some sort Acura TSX or TL? My budget is somewhere around $25k. I am looking for any comments, suggestions, or ideas. I am having some serious trouble deciding what i want. |

Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
a volvo S60R is baller, AWD, decently quick, and they can be had for low to mid 20's for an 05/06.
obviously a TL is a great choice also. a camaro is a great choice because it has an LS1 with 320HP and they get around 100MPG uphill. ask johnny |

Any other ideas? |
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
mugen civic si sedan
they list for like $30k but the honda dealership by my house for some reason can't sell the sedans so the si sedans are like 18-19k and the one mugen sedan there is like 26k but the coupes are like 23k and they only had one mugen coupe but it was like 33k or get a couple year old jag for like 13k they can be had with a 5 speed and the v6 it pretty quick and you would get so much ass driving a jag |
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
Will it be a daily driver kept stock or daily driver that eventually turns into a project car? I personally like the looks of the TSX. But what about a IS300? What about a Kia Rio? Julio and I drove a four door to Stevemodes and it got mad gas mileage and was good with the ladies......good on keeping them far far away. :P

Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
anyone who spends 8-10K more for a "mugen" civic si should have thier ability to breed questioned.
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
04-05 wrx, $10k will get you a decent car. invest $400 in parts and have a few ponies shy of 300, and youll never have to work on it.

Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
If you get any amount of snow or ice the wrx gets my vote, for 25k you can pickup an STI.
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
get a China Moped :1
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
Have you test drove any of these cars yet?
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
new wrx's are garbage. '09 will be the return of a decent wrx. '05 was the last year, dbw killed the fun.
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
The back of Jettas are pretty ------- small for a sedan IMO.

All I know is that WRXs are a blast to drive. But the e46 BMW, Volvo S40/S60, Acura TL/TSX all seem like solid choices and a bit more "mature" as far as trying to put on the facade of being a respectable businessman. Not familiar with Saabs at all, but definitely stay away from Volkswagens.
I'd probably struggle between a 330i and an Acura TL for a while, before going with the TL. |
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
TL type S is ------- tits.
Very very nice car. |

Very very nice car. i highly doubt you could even find a used one for under 30K unless youre talking about the 2003 and under then i would say the CL-S is a better choice. |
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
I would personally go with the 9-2X aero, i mean your basically getting a WRX underneath the Saab body, with a few more goodies as well. I think the 9-2X aero also has a few suspension related parts from the STi, don't quote me though. I would think that they would also be cheaper to insure and hold their value a little better than a WRX as well.
Like previously stated though, the trannies in the WRX's are definately weak points. Theyre cramped as hell too. Im also a big fan of the Acura RDX |
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
I have not test driven any of these cars yet. I wont be buying until about February. Right now i am just figuring out my options. Basically at this point it is between the Volvo S60R, Acura TL, and BMW 330xi. I really like what i have read about the Volvo its quick, great breaks and suspension, and its a Volvo. Who would expect it to be quick? I am really surprised you can pick one up for $20k with 40k miles or less. The car was $40k new and many have warranties out to 100k.

Cheap way to make a heavy FagWheelDrive car AWD, it's going to leak, and cost a stupid amount to replace, as much I've searched there's not a more robust aftermarket part either. Get an old 740 wagon. End. http://www.volvospeedshop.com/images...how-mine-1.jpg ^^That's the impression I'd want to leave. |

Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
FAIL
|
Re: Need ideas for a new daily driver.
Friend of mine had an s60R, it was full of fail. Literally something broke on it every week. He had it for about 3 months then traded it in on an 05 Elise. They ripped him a new one on the trade in, and he ended up paying $42,000 for the lotus which was worth $35K.
