Need ideas mounting LCD TV *Update-installed*

I'm getting a 37" and can't mount it on the wall with my current entertainment center. It's also too large to fit in the middle TV section of the center. What I was thinking is attaching a cantilever mount to one of the uprights of the entertainment center (it's pretty large). The TV would stick out slightly past everything. All of the mounts I see are designed to be installed on a wall, into studs. Would I be able to get away with mounting it this way? I have never mounted a large TV like this so I could use some input.

Update: All done :) I ended up using a cantilever mount to a stud on the wall behind the entertainment center so now I can swing the tv to different angles and ----. I've never seen an HD broadcast before and it's ------- awesome. The built in QAM tuner this thing has picks up most of the digital channels and all the on demand channels. I was watching some porn last night and saw someone rewinding it back to a certain part and watching it a few times, I love this ----!

The entertainment center is angled in a corner right now. After some thinking, I'm just going to put it flat against a wall and put the cantilever mount on the wall directly behind the TV hole, and have the TV in the same spot but with less worry O0

look in best buy,not online but in the stores. in the back they got a whole bunch of setups for hanging the tv. when i bought my lcd i went to circuit city and they didn't have ---- and even the manufacturer wall mount was crap best buys was better.
there is one that swings like an arm i'm sure there is one long enough to clear it. if you find that the other setup won't work

Good job.

Bestbuy is the rapinist mofos when it comes to wallmounts. Walmart had the exact same ---- for half as much, and they are even cheaper online. I just got one of those $100 tv stand things from walmart and popped the 50" plasma up on it. Works just fine and is at a good height.

Oh yeah, I prefer LCD. The LCD effect where it's kind of reddish in one corner and greenish in the other , depending on your angle, is annoying, but the brightness is top notch. I love the contrast and viewing angle of a plasma but damn it will heat up a ------- room quick, and the burn in is quite annoying. Haven't had any of mine get perma-burn, but between scenes you can see the image slightly burned in.

Yea the only thing I know about plasma is it tends to have deeper or darker black areas, but this one looks as good as anything really.

Final four in HD tonight :6 HD gives me a boner now.

Yeah I've heard a lot of people say HD isn't a big difference. Dunno what they're smoking. When the super bowl was on I was switching between the hd and analog channel and the difference was like night and day. ---- analog.

Oh yeah, I'm guessing you don't need a DL disc anymore since you sent a dvd to rawr? I recently bought a xbox 360 hddvd drive from ebay and am gonna use it to rip hd video, compress with mp4/avc, and burn to a dvd to stream from a pc.

No I do still need one, I have no problem burning single layer discs which is what I sent him, just problems with dual layers.

My old roommate came over today and was checking out the tv and he said he couldn't tell the difference (from just seeing an HD signal) then I switched it over to the regular broadcast of the same channel and he just said whoa

reactone - I do enjoy watching HD nature/earth type crap when I'm tripping. It's quite interesting ----. If you like those type shows, go to: www.mvgroup.org and start downloading. I've got at least 100+ gb of hd ---- from there.

Jagojon - I'll send you one monday then. Hopefully the verbatim brand will work out for you. If they don't, get a new burner :P And yeah, sometimes you have to switch between analog and hd so people can really see how big of a difference it is. It's like WHOA
