need help with hard decision: Turbo or clean and cheap *** hatch
OK here's the deal: I've been saving all summer for money to put a HMT kit together for my GSR-EG Hatch. Now, i've got about $600. Now, at my school, the autoshop teacher has come up with an idea for the advance+advance students, students who are taking "advanced auto" for the 2nd or 3rd time, where we are going to build a project car. Part of the problem to this dilemma, is that we haven't decided what we're doing yet, either drag or auto-x. We also haven't decided on the car, the budget, the whole idea is in very early stages.
Now, there is a '90 Si Hatch, no dents or dings, 169K, runs, for $500. why's it so cheap? NO IGNITION!! what an easy fix.
So, should I pick up the hatch- if we use the car, hey I get my $500 back, or if we don't, i can always keep it or just fix the ignition and sell for $1000. Or, should I just forget about the car and get my hatch boostin already!?

Buy the hatch, fix the ignition, and sell it to either some Joe for $1g, or sell it to the auto class for $800. Use the profit to fund your gsr turbo.
There's no big gains, without big risks.

i guess a few years ago, the autoshop class put together a kit car, of a vw bug chassis with a old school ferrari engine and body.. ------- sick. anyway, he just got it back from the body shop, and so now it's going to be sold. that money will fund the project car.
so if i got the hatch now, it would basically just so i could have it available when we're ready to buy it, also, the car would be in my name, so once i graduate, the beast will be mine (a free, $15K hatch)

here lemme help you out with some useful advise :P
forget about turboing the GSR... why you ask, cause to be blunt, 600 bucks ain't gonna get you too far, and you don't wanna completely cheap out on a somewhat pricey investment.
So I say, buy the hatch. Use it for the school project or not. Heck if the school don't take it, you got a clean Si hatch for a mere 500 bucks. Plus you could fix it and sell it on Honda tech for 1500-2000, even more to some people. If the condition is in as great condition as you say it is, people will pay.
So my vote, buy the hatch. Buying it won't be a burden, no matter what you do with it, it is some what of an investment.
