My weekend install project WRX....56k big no no

I spend all day saturday doing this. I can say I can feel the difference, easy an extra 30hp like people say.
here's the car. Oh yeah the car was and is still dirty, but who cares.

I installed an up pipe, Downpipe and catback. The downpipe and catback were easy to do. The up pipe was a bitch. Thats the pipe that connect the header or manifold to the turbo. People said it could take like 8hrs just to install that one pipe, I said hell no it's only 7 bolts. Well it took me like 5 hours, ----. anyhow its done. Here are more pics.

The Catback

old exhaust new catback. Ricey? maybe but I like it.

The Downpipe

see the 2 cats on the factory one, big restriction, now they are out, also
Factory

Aftermarket

installed

It's bigger, 3 inches, and the fatory one has the wastegate side blocked, why because it's gay. The aftermarket has a bellmouth and all the gases flow better.

The Bitch, I mean Up-pipe.

This thing gave me the most problems. I had to remove one side of the header, loosen a motor mount to get room, cut a bunch of heat shields and finally after like 4 hours it came out. This is where the first cat of the car is, by removing it, the car spools faster at around 2500 and holds good until redline.

The finished product.

You can also see the hatch in the background. WOO WOO

Oh yeah and here are my cats. YES THEY ARE BETTER THAN DOGS!!!!

This might be my next project, or maybe I'll sell it not sure

Without HMT I would not have read about Turbos, learned about them, made my hatch Turbo or even installed my own parts. So thanks for giving me the confidence to do it myself.

I just bought a legacy turbo. I can't wait to slap my set of STi v4 heads on that bitch. That plus the VF24 that's collecting dust downstairs... I've driven stock WRXen and those with full exhaust systems I'd definitely agree 30 ponies just like that.

Is that a Blitz NUR spec cat back? If so they sound awesome, my friend has one and when he pulls up on my drive it makes my fishtank water ripple!!!

Well the up-pipe is a Helix, the Turboback is a JDM spec pipe, it has different lengths compared to the USDM spec WRX. The Downpipe is shorter while the Catback is longer. The only marker that it has is on the muffler and it says "TOP SPEED" and a bunch of japanese letters. I'm not sure what it is but I got it on Ebay and everything did fit fine, except for two of the studs on the up-pipe that where too long and hit the downpipe flange, but a quick trip to ACE hardware and everything was fixed.

It sounds mean as hell, almost like a v8, really deep tone, and you can also hear more of the turbo sounds, like spooling and stuff. I really like it it's really quiet when you are just cruising around, but when you punch it, it awakens really good.
