Re:My sexy new project!

tuning is stage 2, i'm only in stage 1 (manufacuring). i'm hoping that i can get a decent tune with a stock ecu and a ghettodyne chip. i'll have to get the injectors balanced so they all match flow rates. i'm going to tune it with the stock manifold (so the O2 sensor is reading from all cylinders, since my headers have the O2 sensor on just 1 runner). since i'm sure the engine is going to be done before these are, i'm goign to run a Y8 intake on that for a while, then switch to the ITB's once they are read.

Mind taking a picture of the flange side? so we can see how they look? what size are the throttle bodys? (per each)

I really like the idea, but it might be a ---- to get everything working... ;)

wont a MAP system work Jeff?

Re:My sexy new project!

the second pic down is the "head" side of the set-up. the throttle plates about about 2/3 the way back in the runners. i was thinking about that after i posted them here at work, i KNEW someone would ask me the diameter of the runners. i'm not positive (but i'm abot 85%), they are just under 2 inches each. i was looking at some 2 inch K&N cones the other day, so i'm pretty sure that's the size. so you can figure i'll be running the equvilant of abot a 7.5 inch throttle plate.

;D

as for being a "----" to tune, well, if it was easy, then there won't be any fun in doing it.

nonono. I wanna see pics of what the runners look like (off the throttle bodys), where they are at, what is the shape etc...

Just get a factory intake manifold gasket, take it to a CNC machine shop and have them make you a flange, or use a facotry manifold, chop the fucker and weld some runners on that. (kinda like my ZC intake manifold)

what size are the TB's? in mm's?

Jeff

i'll measure them better when i get home. i haven't made the runners to the flange yet, that's what i'm looking up today, see if i can find someone to make me one. good idea on the gasket though. i need one with-out the "injector bump" in it though, since the injectors sit right behind the TB plates. i'm guessing about 2 inch runner (from the flange to where the will meet the tb's). that'll give me a little over 4 inches of total runner (about and inch more than you HAVE to have). the runne will come straight out of the head (parallel to the ground) and be cut at a slight angle (up) where a plate will be welded to it. that's where the TB's will bolt to. i'll draw it all up tonight and scan it in, to get some feed back.

As long as you only use one tps and its calabrated the same as stock why would you have tuning problems?

Kaneda13 05-21-2003 11:49 AM

Re:My sexy new project!

it'll be one TPS, but you now have 4 throttle bodies (which aren't all linked with one solid bar. also, the subtle differences in your cylinders will cause different amount of air flow/fuel mixture. i think the hardest part is going to be here to start with the fuel map. at least witha turbo, you have maps you can start with that are close, then tuen from there, i'll have to jus guess a few times, then adjust it from there.

Re:My sexy new project!

could you use a AFC to trick the ecu? Like.. the extra 3 tbs will get more air into the cyl. So get the AFC to dump in extra fuel ?

Re:My sexy new project!

I really think the stock computer will do ok. I mean your talking about the need to tune individual cylnders.. Thats going to take a pretty complex ecu with egt probes in each exhaust runner.
