My RHD EG6 Project PICs

So I wanted a RHD civic for a while now but like most of people on HMT i am a NIGGA ON A BUDGET O0
So about a year or so ago I desided to do a RHD conversion, but then i bought a WRX and my planes got put on hold. And about couple of months ago I found a 94 hatchback for $100 which was a perfect candidate for my conversion, then i picked up an EG6 RHD front clip for $150 (no engine no tranny), and started working on it when i had time, and time is something that I don't have much since i am married and have a kid. So this is where i am at right now.

I know i am probably going to get flamed by some of the members, but I don't care. If you are going to hate just keep your comments to yourself. Some people will say what a waste of time, and what is the point... it didn't take all that long... about 4 full days of work for me to get to this point and this is just the kind of thing i am into, just like most of people on here are into turboing their cars and ----...

And for thouse of you that will say that i have weakened the structural points of the car and that i'll get fucked in case of an accident, I'll say that I know what i am doing. I got about 3 years of body work at the body shop under my belt i know what I am doing. And for all the people that want to do the conversion, i'd say that if you do not have much of the experience in this field don't do it, because it is ALOT of work and you have to be pretty precise in fitting all of the things together.

So here you go:

pulled the firewall out of the hatch:

what is left of the JDM front clip

test fitting

JDM NIGGA
http://home.comcast.net/~dimchik230/S2010077.JPG

money shut
http://home.comcast.net/~dimchik230/S2010079.JPG

now i got to start putting all of this ---- in

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

You're going to weaken the structure. lol J/k

Looks damn good. I always thought it was more of a "weld two cars together" than just a firewall swap. Good ----.

Guy-Fast 07-16-2005 10:40 PM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

Ya i thought that too atleast the cras I have seen done to it the welded 2 cars together

BLUEHATCH 07-16-2005 10:50 PM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

^^^ yeah i've heard of people doing it that way, but the way i see it the car will never be the same once you cut it in half and then weld it back together... that would be the ghetto way to do a converision

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

Big ups on the conv. cause I'd have the firewall out and be like ahh ---- this ---- is too much for me and have the junkyard coming to pick up one fucked up car and front clip. I always wanted to conv my SE-R with my GTIR front clip that I had but I ain't no body work skillz.

sweet job, cant wait to see the finished product.

bumblezc 07-17-2005 11:26 AM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

Nice work man. I to always thought it was a whole front clip swap, not just a firewall. This is looking alot easier to do now. Not that I would, but have a body mechanic in the family makes it tempting.

Also, must have been fun drilling out all those spot welds!! I hate doing that job!!!

Also, did you just spot weld it again, or seam weld the whole thing. I want to seeam weld my end bay and suspension mounts for the added integrety of it.

BLUEHATCH 07-17-2005 02:05 PM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

^^^ yeah it felt like there would be no end to drilling out all of the spot welds, i think between 2 firewalls that i had to extract i drilled out close to 160 spot welds, welding everything back up took forever too. And yeah i just spot welded it back in.

bumblezc 07-18-2005 09:27 AM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

^^^
Ya I helped rebuild a 2002 Lincoln LS. Hit a gaurd rail lightly sideways. Rlaced the whole passenger side A Pillar to Cpillar. THAT WAS ALOT OF DRILLING!

Well Worht it though. We rebuild that car for about 19,000 CAN, back in 2003 when retail on a 2002 was still about 35,000.

so will that be street legal? I know must RHD JDM cars are not, you can have them for show and track use only.

I'd like to get a real EG6 for my next track car. Better balance with the motor/driver on opposite sides.

Just turn your motor around mang. That works right?

Very nice work though. I was expecting some ricer project with retarded questions and shitty work. It looks really good though.

well the way i see it , the cars itself isn't JDM so it retains most of the US DOT approved ----, for example i know that if you are importing a car from Japan you have to change the windshield (maybe even all of the glass), doors have to be replaced to, because JDM doors dont have the rebar inside of the door shell. Same ---- goes for the headlights and "imission" standerds. But this car is a US vehicle, that meets all DOT requaerements, and the only thing that is different is obviously the firewall, and a VIN on the firewall so i'll have to make a trip to the state patroll so that they could issue the new VIN #.

$10 says that when you're done, that everythings gonna be completely wrong...steering wheel, cluster, pedals...betcha it all ends up on the wrong side. :-*

in aus, doenst matter how compiled they are, u cant drive LHD unless it was made before 1960 or something. and then u gotta have a bigass sticker on the front and rear saying 'THIS VEHCICLE IS LHD"

BLUEHATCH 07-19-2005 12:40 AM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

and then u gotta have a bigass sticker on the front and rear saying 'THIS VEHCICLE IS LHD"
that would be gay... ;)

and just to be the biggest ricer i should put bigass sticker on the front and rear saying "THIS VEHICLE IS RHD" :-* just so every one would notice, and also i should put another one of them stickers on a huge "Fast and Furious" spoiler that I shold mount on the roof :-X

I am lost to why you would want to do this. Is JDM that cool?
I guess it cool that you did it all yourself. You got skill, thats for sure. I guess I just dont understand mods that dont make a car faster.

dude you got a lot of ---- to put back in, good luck with that haha.

looks real good so far keep it updated for us over here.

you said you weren't gonna turbo it, all this work and then no turbo? c'mon

BLUEHATCH 07-19-2005 03:28 PM

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

^^^ it's not all about being faster... just want my ---- to be different I guess. For example why do people do all these mods to their cars? (and i am not talking engine ----) people put body kits on (i know that's a gay example), wheels, lip kits, carbon fiber hoods, you name it. I just don't want my civic to be like everyone else's. And in the end so what if your car is faster, does it make you a better person, does it make you better then others? it's all about personalizing my ---- to the way i want it.

dude you got a lot of ---- to put back in, good luck with that haha.
haha most of the ---- is already in, should be done with most of the stuff by tonight... well minus the motor and tranny and taking out all the dents and painting the whole car. :)

you said you weren't gonna turbo it, all this work and then no turbo? c'mon
i am still undisided about the turbo and all, i don't know... when the car will be all done i might just say ---- IT!!! and turbo the bastard ;D

Re: My RHD EG6 Project PICs

I checked out a 91 CRX today that had an SIR front clip done the exact same way. Straight 3" exhaust no muffler, rollcage, as far as the owner knew the B16 was stock but LSD tranny. The body was 6 different colors and had a nice layer of surface rust on it... and he wanted $4000. I dont think I would drive a car done like that unless I did the work myself. Yours looks awesome, good job.
