My new hoopty!

Re: My new hoopty!
Those pictures are off craigslist, at the guys house. It's now sitting in my driveway! Definately isn't the prettiest looking vehicle ever. But hopefully I can get it figured out and running, and just be my ugly junkyard racecar! If in a couple years I get sick of it being ugly, I can just buy a base model colt in good shape, and swap in all the stuff into it.

Yeah I have a friend that totalled about 5 cars and ended up buying one because I think it was the only "tunable" car he could afford insurance on. He talked about adding awd and the 2.0l years ago but I bet it's the same...

Re: My new hoopty!
If you have a N/T shell, you can swap the turbo stuff into it. But the problem is getting everything you need. There's a lot of crap, and axels are hard to come by. It shouldn't be too difficult for me because I already have a complete turbo colt. So if I decide I want a cleaner shell, I could go buy the cheapest Colt shell and just put all my crap into it. But if you just go buy a N/T colt, and want to buy everything to turbo it, you can do it but it does involve a lot of searching to get everything you need.

Re: My new hoopty!
there was a guy a few years ago at MIR with one that ran high 13's. i know it was boosted but dont know if it was swapped or not. with a car that small i'm sure 13's are easy w/ 200-225hp
they remind me of suzuki swifts.

guys one them mags don't know jack for the most part.
Those are great. I was going to buy one swapped with a 2.0l for $1500. Rough paint, good mechanics. When I called the guy it was already gone. Those are cool little hatches, just hard to find. I mean the car as it is is hard to find running, the turbo one is more like a treasure to find.
Fix it and make it last.

Re: My new hoopty!
Well I finally got this bastard in the garage. It needs some TLC that's for sure. Here's a couple pics as it sits right now.
So far I've removed all the emissions, and probably around 90% of the vacuum lines to clean up the engine bay a little, and make some more room under the hood. I'm throwing on a different throttle body I have on the shelf, since the one on the car is eff'd. I'm also currently redoing a bunch of the wiring under the hood, because it's a mess. Anything that could rust, has rusted. So I'm trying to clean up that. I'm looking to out in a honda half sized dual core radiator to make some more room too (anyone have one??). These things are non-intercooled, so I picked up an Evo8 fmic off a local guy for cheap because the fins were in pretty rough shape. But it was nothing a pair of tweezers, and about 4 hours couldn't fix. I gave it a light coat of flat black, too keep things inconspicuous. I'll kinda update this as I get ---- done on it.
