My LS/VTEC head conversion is finished (pics)

So I scored an obd1 GS-R Head and Intake Manifold basically for free, and decided to ls/vtec my car.

THIS ------- SUCKED! Just wanted to say that first, haha. Friday night at about 6pm Mike and I got started. Ran into all sorts of little bullshit along the way and this entire thing took way too long. All said and done with the little ---- to deal with and the trips to get ----, we finished at about 2:30AM, and I went to bed at about 2:45 AM.

Exactly 3 hours later at 5:45 AM, my alarm clock went off, its time to go to work! :7

But it all runs great now and here are the final results.

Finished setup is b18a1 block, b18c1 head, b16a2 transmission, and a donor clutch from a jdm itr swap, not too shabby for a broke nigga.

So here is what I started with, the old LS head

The beginning tearing everything off

This is the transplant gs-r head thats going on, threaded and tapped for the plugged oil channel

Had some broken parts I had to replace though, but for a free head, who can complain?

Stealthmode sells an oil line kit for this, oooh shiny (note, what appears to look like rust on the block deck is actually just bad lighting)

Makin progress, head is on and workin on timing belt and water pump. We used the GE Dowels for this, and a stock LS headgasket, just a little die grinder action to make it fit over the dowels and its all good.

And thats about it for pictures, here it is all finished pretty much.

Oh a couple more, check out this one, the intake was all like oxidized to ----, it looks bad but I'll probably do something about that later.

Now I know the strange JDM poses are somewhat a tradition, but in all the excitement I decided ---- all that...I'M GONNA HUMP THIS LITTLE FUCKER

With my 2.25" exhaust and that short ram it sounds pretty mean. I think I do need to ditch the obd0 LS exhaust mani and get rid of the catylitic to gain some top end out of it. I based it out with a b16 rom in crome and adjusted the multiplier to 1.8L displacement, seems to run pretty good like that. I do plan on tossing the wideband in and giving it a full tune later of course.

Special thanks to those that sat by and tolerated my million questions previous to doing this conversion...AbaZ, 88dx, maybe leed, probably turbohf...and anyone else.

No videos, that requires a camcorder...

ls/vtec is always a fun motor set up.

Wire wheel will own all that nasty stuff on that manifold and ya that stock ls manifold no good

wish I could find gsr heads for free

looks good man, just for future referance, if you use a Vtec head gasket (gsr/b16/itr) with the GE dowel pins you do not have to drill anything or enlarge ANY holes.

Hey, I'm going to run that too except I'm having to pay for mine, but the conversion kit is already installed! Also I'll have the extra kick of a turbo too :P

I am doing a ls/vtec setup also, you saw the drunken night I ordered, its already prepped for it.
I did a test fit with a stock ls headgasket and the KMS dowel pins, and it did not require any machining of the head gasket, so I guess its only with the Ge ones.
