You seem to have put some work into the motor, but wouldnt a stock 350 chevy be able to hold quite a bit of power before puking something out the bottom end? I'm seriously wondering, b/c it would suck if it blew up, but then again, who really cares. It's not like you can't get those motors for dirt-cheap new or rebuilt.

I canīt wait to see some videos, dyno pulls, or some track actioni with the car. It seems like it should be quite amazing.

Because I have the chevy block huggers flipped upside down, they do not cover the spark plugs like when the headers are conventionally mounted. So changing plugs are a breeze.
I think you should turbo your malibu and just leave highway gears in it. I believe they say that the shorter gears, numerically higher, are not neede with the turbo v8 cars. On my car, I run out of gearing by the end of the quarter mile due to the 4.10s' and the 4 speed. I will be dropping the gear ratio to around 3.31s'.
I due have forged pistons in my motor, but the motor in your Malibu, it probably has regular cast pistons, and if your tune is not generous with fuel or timing, you will blow it. I beleve you can make some power on that motor safely with just changing the pistons. If my motor was stock, I would still of boosted it the way it sat just to see how it would run.

I should see how much just the pistons are. I can't imagine they would be too much since it's probably one of the most modded motors ever produced in the US. I know my cylinder walls are free of any damage, so I could probably just do a hone, and be OK with installing the pistons on the stock rods. Then again, who knows...maybe I'll just turbo it with a very safe tune and keep the motor together. I've had the heads off countless times due to some head problems, so maybe I'll just put some miles on these gaskets and let the motor blow before giving a ---- about it.

Thanks for the input. I have a slightly higher stall TQ to put into it, but the 2.73 gears keeps the RPM low. I think I might want to upgrade to maybe something a little bit higher to get the best out of the the 1/4 mile times, but with the 3spd on the highway, the engine would probably hate me for building up heat.

That's great about the plugs being easy to change. I hate changing them on regular headers. I've broken a few doing it (usually by dropping them). I'll have to look into making a manifold by flipping those headers, it seems like such an easy route to take, and thankfully those universal headers are quite cheap.

def a nice rid but if you were to get the piping coated or jusr heatwrap them it would look tons better...but good work non the less and keep up the gw..

I like this idea.

Any special reason you didn't just the flipped block huggers and just run twin turbos?

More imporatantly, how hard is it building a carb for boost? I have a ---- box 650 eddy right now but that won't cut it for blow through action i think....

How's it run? Has to be insanely fast ... I have the same heads sitting on my garage floor.

I'm looking at a sweet deal on two Holset Hx50s right now... I like how you ran the drivers side exhaust pipe to the turbo.. I don't have that much room under my hood which I why I was thinking about the twin turbos... Of course that means two wastegates and two bovs but thats no big deal...

I wanted to do this project as cheap mas possible, that is why I only ran one turbo. You can mod an edelbrock carb for boost, but I never taken one apart so
I'm really not sure what is involved and what is different on them. Holleys' is what 99% of people with v8 cars run as far as carbed turbos go. If you know how to swap jets and adjust float levels on a carb, than you should be able to mod one for boost. My car runs great right now. I've taken it to 10lbs of boost since I installed these parts in the carb.

I am still not romping on it for a full quarter mile because my tachometer stopped working and I need to buy a msd ignition. I'm just running a hot coil because
my jacobs' ignition did not work with my msd boost timing master. The wideband shows that it is running nice and rich under boost. After getting the missing parts I should be in good shape and ready to take it to the track. Or at the very least, post up some decent ripper vids.

I only want to run 5 psi for now on mine and was thinking about keeping the eddy and using a RRFPR ...

What did you do for your ignition? Locked down? vaccum disconnected?

I have a HEI with brand new everything and ACCEL super coil , I'm going to look up what this MSD boost timing thing your talking about is haha.

My demon carb was easy. All it needed was jet extensions and the notched float for the jet extensions. I even left the same jetting and it is workinf just fine. A little rich at idle and cruise, but runs fine. The floats are made of nitrophill which is harder than the older floats that came in carbs. The older floats will rupture with boost. As for 5 psi on an eddy, I don't think you would have a problem. At the very least, you probably will have to swap in some bigger jets. I garantee that 5 lbs of boost will not be enough for you. My ignition is not locked out. It is just running 32 degrees total with the advance disconected. The msd boost timing master is a box that retards timing as boost comes in.

Yea, Holleys are the way to go for boost . It looks like a pretty straight forward setup .

;D Damn i love it.I tell you what i have the 650dp already setup for 18 psi boost you send me a carb and ill swap you.The fuel pump you need to get it the super pump.It will pump the amout of fuel needed and it mechanical.Let me know if theres anything you need on tunning aspect i have pushed the sbc to the limits to melting 3 pistons and burning the electrodes off the pluggs.I miss the boost.
