my first impressions on the 6 puck Clutch Specialties...CALLING ALL USERS!!
well, I got the 6 puck sprung, and 8 lb flywheel on this weekend. I'm beat. Now I have a few questions...
It seems there are only two ways to get moving from a stop.
1)rev it to about 2 grand and letteh clutch out and it just grabs and takes off
2)start VERY slowly and feather the clutch and the gas to get the right balance between teh two to get moving. Doing this causes the car to shake until I get moving. I'm assuming that is the clutch chatter, but I thought the sprung disc would help a lot with chatter...
Also, lets say with a stock clutch you have |<------------>| (this much) of a buffer zone where you can balance the clutch/gas to get moving smoothly. With this setup, my buffer zone is more like |<->|. This make it very tough to get moving in the city or on a hill. I know I'm not used to it yet, but it's VERY easy to stall it out because of the way it engages. Do I have something wrong or is this normal?
It grabs hella good. No complaints there yet. I've only driven it one day so far. It also doesnt really have a harder pedal pressure than my previous clutch. it was a stock replacement Pro Clutch. Anyone care to tell me about where they adjusted their clutch cable nut to? higher or lower? I've got mine where the clutch grabs high.
Thanks for your help and input guys.

You just need more practice. It works the same way as any other sprung clutches, but needs a little more control than organic disk.
If you`ve ever try a UN-sprung clutch, it works like a on-off switch, either it is ON or it is OFF

Thats a preformance clutch for you.
It's like a light switch, no in between. Buffer zones are for daily drivers. If you car is you daily driver and you need a clutch that can handle you power, you have to give up some civility.
As for the two ways to get moving. That more you flywheel, many people have problems on their daily drivers with heavy clutchs and a lightened flywheel. Clutch grabs so hard and fast and the flywheel doesn't not have the weight, thus the no rotating mass to stay spinning against the clutch, so you loose revs.
It's something you have to get used to. I did (no lightened flywheel but hey) It takes a few week to get good at a Performance clutch. YOur still gonna get chatter or a hard grab everyonce in a while, but that's what you get with a boosted car that needs a clucth like that.

yea i have a 6 puck un-sprung. like he said, its on or off. but usually at first they will have chattering, but the chattering should go down alot, but probably wont go totally away.

Driving a 6puck for the first time can be a bit different, its just going to take some practice getting use to. Your pedal pressure is the same because Clutch specialities uses stock pressure plates.
Honestly I'm not to impressed with their cheapy clutch kits, beau got a clutch 6 months ago and took it out of his ZC and the thing looks like complete ----. My clutch in my car is already starting to slip. However they do have duel diaphram plates that cost more that 2 of my friends have that have had no problems.

Behold, the power of flat black spray paint.
My 6 puck was used when I got it and it was a nasty mother ******. Unsprung is a bit of a **** to drive in traffic, but it held up pretty well. I didn't even surface the fucked up flywheel and I used a stock pressure plate. I'm sure I was only pushing 200whp or so, but still.....
