Come on evosol, everyone knows that whenever an ebay turbo fails it's the oil lines' fault. :D ::)

Yeah I ran the stock PCV setup too for a long time. Now get this...after going to a catch can and routing both the PCV AND vent to the intake (pre-turbo) pipe the oil stopped leaking from the turbo housing. My oil pan also stopped leaking lol wtf? I talked to the guy who built it and he told me that CAN happen. What did the most damage was when I first put it on I had NO oil restrictor. I then got an adjustable one that the friggin screw came out and once again spit oil out everywhere. Finaly I got a restrictor from ATP turbo and all has been good. But the damage has been done and knew it would need a rebuild. Just in the past few weeks has it been smoking bad. At first I thought headgasket gotta be (cause the turbo didnt smoke since I fixed the oil problems). Replaced the headgasket and installed some ARP studs. Still smoking wtf? Compression check 185 all 4. Did a leakdown maybe its valve seals. nope all is good. Ring lands?? Put on a second head gasket and poppped out all 4 pistons. Nadda everything checked out good. when I had the turbo off I even checked for oil but never saw anything. the ONLY conclusion I can guess is the oil bakes in the casing after I shutdown. When I first start the car no smoke, wait 10-15 minutes and around 150-160 degrees ONLY then it starts to smoke and smoke bad!! I cant even see out my back window its smokes so much. I romp the gas a few times, drive it down the block and about a half mine later its gone. It wont smoke again all day long wether idling or on the gas hard. Not until the next time it sits for a few hours. I am guessing the baked oil is burning off once it heats up. The shaft play is pretty bad though if I push on it hard enough I can get it to rub the housing ouch!! Sending mine out friday :( quoted $250 if it needs a FULL rebuild. Cheaper if its just seals apearently he uses a different kind of seal now.

Heres his number. 1-205-339-0616 ask for Jason 8-4 central time.

I think they failed due to other issues, but Jason is a cool guy. Talked to him personally on the phone when I bought my turbo. Hope things work out for you buddy.

well if the turbo did fail b/c of some type of user install, or stealth's faulty oil lines ;) then i'd like to get to the bottom of that before i put in a new one.

Bizzar, thanks for the #. i'll have to call them and see what the deal is, if its gonna be 250 then i might as well just pick up another one thats already rebuilt, and save money on shipping.

My current turbo is t3 48/60 60 trim, does anyone have any opinions as to going with a t3/to4e 50trim w/48 turbine?

if you ask me.... 65psi of oil is WAY too much evosol, i have a ball valve on mine w/ a gauge @ the ball valve and it never goes above 35 psi and 20 at idle.... 65 psi pushing against rubberband seals that are encased in a 1200 degree oven dont last long.

just my $.02

I'd definately consider it if it's not too much more money......make a bit more power with less boost

well, 65psi is at a cold start up, and about 55-60 warm, and thats before the APT oil restrictor going to the turbo. So then, do i really need to get some type of valve to turn down the oil pressure to the turbo, even with the restrictor?

i guess it wouldn't hurt with my next turbo.

If you are still using the stock PCV in the stock location, when you go into boost that pcv will shut and it can't vent. Either take the hose off to the intake mani or reroute it with a catch can. You're just going to kill another turbo. routing back to the pre-turbo intake will help vent. Same with the valver cover vent it needs help. Like I said my oil leaks stopped once doing do. Mine is a t3/t4 T04B 48/60 with a 54 trim. I love the thing and dont want to shell out 350 bones for another turbo. Id rather pay 250 plus 25 shipping. He said he will pay for shipping back to me.
