Isn't the ball joint built into the tie rod end?

NO NO NO
the tie rod end has a joint built into the end but it ist not "the ball joint" the ball joints on your car are at the top and bottom of the spindle. there is a threaded end on the inside of the car with a jam nut. there is also a castle nut with a cotter pin on the outside of the car.
1 remove cotter pin
2 remove castle nut
3 you could try just whacking the joint witha ball pien but you should use a pickle fork
4 count threads from jam nut
5 loosen jam nut
6 remove tie rod end
and the part will probably be 9.99 at pep boys
good luck do it yourself you don't need help

::) ummmm. I don't know what you are trying to prove here. He is talking about the ball joint on the tie rod end. You said the tie rod end has a joint built into the end. Yeah, its called a ball joint. I answered his question correctly. I'm fully aware of the presence of the upper and lower ball joints as well. However, since when do you call them "the ball joints?"
