my adapter-plate
just wanted to show everyone the adapter-plate that cost me 125 dollars :-\. damn 50 dollar an hour metal shops.
i had to grind on it with my die grinder for a while. to match it to the turbo and manifold. its pretty nice, has allan head studs. notice the jacked up daytona t3 flange. http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/adapter-plate_1.jpg http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/adapter-plate_2.jpg the turbo i'm going to use. t3 (.42 AR COLD, .48 AR HOT) from a daytona shelby turbo. has a wierd flange, but it worked out ok. btw if anyone has a wastegate/pot deal, i need one. http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/turbo_1.jpg http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/turbo_2.jpg i did some porting on this manifold. i'm not sure how well i did on it. i'm not used to having hardly any metal to work with. does it look good... anyone? http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/ho...manifold_3.jpg misc ---- laying on my workbench. http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/misc_----.jpg |
Re:my adapter-plate
Looks good, too bad it cost you that much though but what can you do, what car are you putting it on?
|
Re:my adapter-plate
All metal/fab shops are a damn rip off, I was getting quotes around 100 bucks as well when I first started doing this. That is just insane!
Good luck on the setup... looks good! Jeff |
Re:my adapter-plate
i'm usin it on a 87 crx. the car is pretty quick NA with ported tb and custom ram air intake and big exhaust *note exhaust not muffler*. but i think its not getting enough gas at the top end. cause it really cuts out at 6k rpm.
i'm going for 160hp the car weighs 2000 pounds with gas. right now i can hang or beat non vtec preludes. i usually anhilliate other 88+ crx's, even with i/h/e it sounds like a mean car, with silent exhaust and loud (k&n air filter) intake noise. http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/sleeper_crx.jpg |
Re:my adapter-plate
heres my T3 to HF adapter plate... it cost like 12 bucks..
7 for the steel and 5 bucks to cut a hole... it looks like ---- i know... but this will have to do for the weekend... unless i can get a better one made, i filed at the hole and drilled the bolt holes by hand with a hand drill and fucked up one of the bolt holes... but ---- this will have to do while i test fit everything..https://www.angelfire.com/gundam/puk...pter_plate.JPG |
Re:my adapter-plate
Here ya go... :) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech/adapter/punky.jpg looks like it needs a little bit more work, and its good to go.. Jeff Frank |
Re:my adapter-plate
hey man thats how i like to see work
UGLY AS ---- BUT GETS THE JOB DONE! sweeeeeeet i like it! |
Re:my adapter-plate
yeah, a good drill press and a dremel can get you pretty far.
but would a hole saw be suffucient to cut the hole? -Henry |
Re:my adapter-plate
hole saw would most likely get dull before you got all the way through
|
Re:my adapter-plate
Actually that is how we do 80% of our plates.. on a large drill press, set at a very low rpm.. 115, using a metal hole saw. It can do about 5 plates before it goes dull

Re:my adapter-plate
That's a nice plate.
Here's my plate/tube, which cost me a bit more than $125, considerably more.....my ass is still hurting! http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/fcf5a386.jpg |

Johnny The manifold I used is off a 92-95 civic, Vx, sohc i-vtec. You can actually see it says Civic VX up side down on the one runner in the pic. A few months later I bought Randy and Gary's plate. What car is your kit going on? |
Re:my adapter-plate

Re:my adapter-plate
the one i have is a garett t3 off a dodge dayonta .42/.48
the one is that other guy's pic looks like a mits turbo of some kind. i used to have a TC04 i was going to use. but i sold it to someone for a lot more than i bought it :) then i picked up that t3 for 75 dollars, and it doesn't need a rebuild. here is the old turbo: http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/lpics/turbo_manifold_1.jpg new turbo: http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/turbo_1.jpg http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/turbo_2.jpg |
