my 323hb motor swap
 

so i motor swapped my daily driver. its nto turbo its jsut n/a but its all stock parts. which when i get teh bugs worked out will be a nice reliable car i hope. the car comes stock with a b6 = 1.6L sohc 88 crank hp. so i swapped it over to a bp = 1.8L dohc 130 crank hp. not a drastic change liek when i boosted my escort but still rips good enuf for daily use.

engine mods
- 1.8L dohc
- 95/96 stock 4-1 header
- g-series tranny
- jdm gtx stage1 clutch
- jdm gtx flywheel

clean and simple.

i still need to biuld or buy a better intake. along with work out some coolant issues. fan is not running like it should which is causing it to heat up.

IDK, but I did it and im loving N/A to be quite honest.
No intentions one bit on going back to boost any time soon. (although i am about to start ------ with the T-deisel in the Delica :P)

Cool, I like it haven't really gotten into Mazdas much even though i own one :P but no need for a swap for mine, you think you could squeeze the MS protege motor in there ;D You can find those motors around here pretty easy is that also similar to the zx2 1.9 or 2.0 motors? Straight swap no custom mounts or anything for that?

I don't the Mazda form i was on seemed like most people didn't really know anything about cars but it aways nice to see something other than a Honda on here :y So where is the turbo?

baldur - look at my cardomain. if you want to see boosted goodies that where i am hiding them. as for now na/ is nice for a daily driver.

jy racer - thansk for the love. yes crx and i talk all the time. he knows what i am up too.

loserkidwac - the 1.9L and 2.0L are 100% ford. so swaping over would take a bit of work. along with teh fact they at returnless fuel systems and i am not.

whiterice - we use a VAM not a MAF. but no they are not the same. externally they look a like but the internals are differenet settings. i can upgrade to a non-turbo 86-88 rx7 for a few more high rpm horses if i want. but i need to tune it if i go that route.

the 1.6L turbo is the gayness! its turbo and quik but not as cool as the 1 .8L gtx from japan. it is the same baseline power as my 1.8L n/a. my red car had a jdm gtx 1.8L. it made mad tyte torque numbers. look at my signature. the motor is mazda but its from an escort. if you think mazda crap look into the bp and the fe2 motors. torque is the true value of power not horsepower. yes this motor has a ford valve cover i have a mazda on i just had sand blasted an i need to clean the sand from the inside of it before installing it.

it should hang with if not beat ls swapped hatchs. my red car n/a would beat ls swapped coupes. this is the same motor spec as what was stock in the red car.

In this case, swapping out a 160k+ mile engine./tranny/everything for an 80k mile works out rather nice :6

thanks guys. bummer part is my red escort is gone! lady hit my body kit and i got a nice pay out so i parted it out. made nice for the upcoming things i wanted for the copper car. shooting for 400whp! it will still be "street legal" LOL

i ran into a 323 like a month ago on the freeway late night...i was textin my woman heading home not paying attention and this black 323 pulls up next to me tryin to get me to race....didn't think much cuase at first i thought it was like an escort or something so i juss ignored it untill i heard bov...then i dropped my cell and i chased after him and proceeded to smoke him 5 times....i like the lil car nice sleeper...hell after beating that car it made me want to go out and get one, so now i'm lookin for for one ;D.....nice car man

what kind of power are yo making? if it was a 323 in this area i don't know who it is. but it cant be entirely slow. my car at full interior, stock bumpers, and stuff is not ever 2280lbs. my red car at is lightest with the interior half out and the body kit (just fibargalss shells) was still 2380.

a 323 gtr is basiaclly the king of all JDM cars! baselien power of 210hp at 8psi and a ball baring turbo good for 25psi. it can make abotu 400whp just by swapping the injectors to a larger size and running a standalone. its a the same body style as my car its a BG chassis and is awd. here are a couple pics....

gtr i am a skeptic of but a gtx i would believe in a heart beat. there was less teh 1700 gtrs built. 200 for rally and 1500 for production to make the rally legal.

i havn't dyno'd or anything yet, but i'm guess around 190-200 at the wheel.....juss a sohc turbo kit running 10psi, practicly identicle to pats since he was the one that helped me put it together....in third gear i only had a car on him and was slowly pullin away but then i hit 4th i juss ran from him...i was also lettin him get the jump and it was like that everytime....iono i juss fell in love with the car after that....so i'm lookin to fine one cheap and fix it up, a gtx would be awesome but i don't have like 2g's for one since thats the cheapest ive seen them go for...but i was lookin into gettin a base model and swaping since i've found some info on it....my buddy thinks its an ugly car but i think its got a awesome sleeper look to it...i wish i could find the guy that drove it cause i wouldn't mind checkin out his car, but all i know is he was headin down south towards vancouver/portland area.

you could find a blown up 323 and gtx swap it for 2k. my swap in teh red car cost me about 2500 bucks when i was done. but the swap itself cost 1700. that was everything but a tranny and axels. i already had thos from my escort gt seems it is the same power plant base.

nice....i think i might do that, i've seen a few with blown head gaskets going for like $200 or cheaper....right now i got like zero money cause of bills, but i get $700 at the end of the month for coaching leagion baseball....heres a question for ya, i was on the corksport web page, is that a pic of your car on there? never really dawned on me untill now. anyways, if you happen to stumble across a 323 for cheap shoot me a pm ;)

well tey sold gtx's in japan too. in teh same body style as the gtr. the only difference is the motor. its just its rare to find a true gtr anywhere! gettign the motors is bad enuf.

That's the one thing I love about those dual cam mazda 1.8's...solid iron block, solid deck design. Block-wise those things look like they can handle tons of boost abuse. ;D

couple guys in porta rico are make 600whp out of them. a guy in florida is make 545whp. its all in the tune. but we have teh nice no sleeve factor.
