Mufflers.. how much do they muffle?
 

I got pulled over for a modified exhaust a couple days ago. Basically the cop saw the fart can on the back and lit me up.

My car is already loud because it's 3" from the turbo all the way back.

I was thinking of cutting off the muffler and putting a non functional stock muffler in its place but I dont know how much louder it would be..

so.. question is how much does a muffler with a 3" in, 5" can, and 4.5" outlet actually quiet things down?

the turbo mufflers flow like a big old peice of poo in a constapated old man, I like the maganflow xl series and I've heard good things about the dynomax ultra flows

Mine makes my car quieter significantly, my wastegate makes some noise being dumped under the car though, needs a muffler all it's own.

I think i'm running one of those summits on my hatch. Back pressure? Yes. Quiet? Yes.

I like the magnaflow. I belive lots of people run them on here. Summit racing sells them for pretty cheap compared to exhaust shops. If you want you can just paint it black and you would never see it.

summit turbo muffler FTW. i have one on my allmotor hatch and it quited it down alot, at leats till it hits vtec then it just screams.

I'm personally going to be running a Hooker straight through muffler. I've had a couple buddies run them, and they sound great, and are only like 50 or 60 bux from Summit. If Summit sold a 3" turbo muffler that was center/center inlets/outlets, I'd prolly be buying one.

summit bullet mufflers are dynomax race mufflers w/o the aluminized case, and they're 20 bucks and change. paid 14 for mine from the clearance bin and its seen over 900hp in its life

Nice. Ya I'm a fan of the summit ones, I just can't find them in a center/center inlet/outlet setup. If I could, I'd be all over it.

I have a Thermal R&D 3" and I love it. Pretty quiet.. works great, looks just as good.

I paid $120 for it.

Hit up advance auto they got thrush 21inch long glasspaccks 2.5 id for 24 bucks.
Its what im rockin and every one tells me it sounds great.

OK they sell a turbo muffler and then they sell a glasspack
the turbo muffler looks like a muffler good flow sound good.
the glasspach looks like a red co2 cartrige great flow amsome sound, might be to loud for you tho. ::)

i got my magnaflow for 50 shipped off ebay and had it at my door in 3 days. sounds good, pretty darn quiet at lower rpm, lil louder when boost hits and you wrap it up..sounds great to me
