Got a warning this evening about my muffler, officer had me rev it up a bit. he said "its tollerable". but advised me to put the stock unit back on the car. $101.oo ticket. so if ya have to go north, stay outa Marysvill. cause smokey aint got anything better to do. oh and by the way, i was stoped at a stop light. and not acting like a ------ retard. just a heads up to you all. :'( :'( :'( :'( >:( >:( >:( >:(

roatry engines wouldnt last a minute up there. plyus hes supposed to use a decible gauge. if he didnt it can get thrown out. because it has to be over a cerain number.

no kain, thats bullshit... he could give it a ticket for various reasons, one being a inadquate muffler, or 2, because it has a widened or expanded exhaust tip, 2 different tickets meaning the same thing requiring no sound check.

pretty much anything other then stock is illegal.

get a decimals reader if u are under 95d u can fight it. take it to the police and ask for the pig that tickit u and have him test it if its under they cant find u.
also if a shop put it on show the receipt then there is nothing they can do sence a shop sold it to u.

in california if you get a ticket for a loud exhaust you can take it to a smog ref that is certified in DB levels and if it passes you get a sticker on your car saying it is a legal exhaust....the thing is you have to get a ticket in order to get it reffed =/

Aren't there like CARB legal exhaust systems that don't have a giant ricer tip and sound like a crotch rocket doing a burn out?

Just get a muffler that isn't quite as loud as the one you have. Cops never mess with me and I run with just a resonator, no muffler, no cat.

dam cops strike again, ya, i know for a fact up here there a little honda happy, u have a muffler or anything done or if its a jap car they get u lol. i have a dc header, full 2.5 and a jdm tunabe exhaust off a jdm clip, no cat res or anything with my ls/vtec, shits quiet, until mad vtec ;)

i dont get alot of ---- about the exhaust, unless they pull me over for somthin else, like when i dint have a front licence plate. there like is that a moded exhaust, i said does it look like it, there like no. i laughed, it looks kinda stock, but bigger and ----.-lol -blake

goto court, try to get it dropped. When u go in, dont say anything yet, just ask if the officer turned your ticket in on time.. If the judge says he didnt you can have that ticket dropped. Cops have like 1-3 days to turn their tickets in. I had my first ticket dropped when i asked that. But when i got my 2nd one, i forgot to say that, and ended payin a reduced ticket. My friend's mom told me about this, shes the chick that sits right next to the judge.

no. in most us states on the ticket it has to be described as a loud exhaust with a certain decible. the cop has to test it one foot away and at a certain rpms. i know this because ive seen people get pulled for this kinda stuff. if it doesnt have a decible rating on your ticket then in my book it dont count. they have to test it. but you could be right. but most cops simply say its too loud/broken.

I just got my exhaust on Tuesday and I wanted to pass inspection easy so I got a Magnaflow High Flow Cat and Magnaflow High Flow Muffler. Basically they don't do much. You can see right through them. Anyway, my exhaust is pretty loud since it's 3 inch all the way from the cat back and going to be 2.5 - 3 inch downpipe too. I know like shift at around 2250. I got on it of course when I got it back and its pretty loud. Sounds good and deep then around 4000-5000 is starts to buzz. I don't know maybe it IS vtec doing that. Point is I doubt I even get a ticket and they are strick around here. I just cruise slow and my exhaust tip is just the 3 inch steel pipe with 3 inch stainless over it tacked on to look better. No 4.5 inch tip. Looks stock just with a tip bought from Autozone slid over the tailpipe.

only during the end of the month will cops pull that kinda bull ---- around longview......thats why i don't hit the local cruz or street races during the end of the month....don't feel like gettin a ticket cause sparky didn't make his quota yet....any other time of the month and cops could give a ----

I heard that before. We were all hanging out one night and we counted 27ish cops. Don't think they were all different, but still. I rarely see 3 in 1 day. Is that true?

that whole thing is bullshit. if he brought it from a company that sells it legally the muffler is legal. They wouldn't be in business if what they produce is illegal they have a liscense for it. It cracks me up when cops pull that ---- and people believe them

don't get so worried about it. I've gotten about 5 muffler ticket's now in the last year, you all need to start doin what I do, and get a Mechanic Hook-Up that you can go to and have him sign the ticket off. As far as anyone else know's you put the stock equiptment back on when you went to the machanic and then switched back once you went home ::)

no, no ticket issued. he told me what the fine would be if one was issued. and i just paid like $700.00 big ones for brand new TITAINIUM MUFFLER BEARINGS. bought them on "GAYBAY" ;D. but no, i bought the "can" from the local "honda bone yard" for $10.00. it was a purchess for someone else, they forfitted on payment, had it laying around, so i threw it on. dont even like it. its an OBX. nothing special.... but my main question is, is can i run a stock muffler with my turbo. what will the out come be??? some say that i have to keep a "streight thru can" on. and some say that it wont make a difference :-\. cause actually i want the car to be as silient as possible. then they don't hear you commin. >:D

It will probably choke it up some. I hate the loud exhausts, but turbos NEED to breathe. Hence, my set-up. It's alright. Just don't shift past 2500rpm. :P Here's a quick vid me and the buddy made of me leaving the driveway just to show what high flow cat 3 inch piping and high flow exhasut sound like. No turbo yet. Just getting this stuff done. I have emissions and inspections and crap here. So I did the best I could. So here it is. Nothing really at all just for the sound of 1st to like 6500rpm. I rode the clutch because I saw a car behind me and didn't want to slip tire.

I was pulled over a couple of weeks ago for my exhaust being a little loud and the
popo was just about to give me a ticket when a Harley went by. I said, do u really think my car was louder than that bike? No ticket, on my way down the road

It IS loud though isn't it? I have been told turbo will quiet that down alot. Jon's open downpipe is quieter than mine N/A so I'm hoping mine might actually sound good. Metal sound? What's rotary cars sound like? Got a clip?


As for the bike that is exactly what I would say. Those bikes are soooooo loud.

Damn, somebody was running a little lean at the top of 3rd. Sounds pretty good.

My car with an open downpipe was quieter than my buddies 2 1/4 inch exhaust with a turbo muffler.

yeah his car started pinging so he had to let off. nedless to say, it was still a damn good video.

i think he has only like 400 hp. he dont need that much since his car isnt nearly as heavy as that heavy ass supra.
