Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

So I mounted my Custom Coach FMIC today. I had to hack up the bumper a little to fit it and so it could bling through, I still have to clean up my sawzall cuts but its in there like swimwear. The rest of the kit will be done by the first week of April, I'm so stoked! Here's a couple pics, please disregard the ricer yellow Honda emblem, that was put on there about 4 years ago and I have just been too lazy to put a regular emblem on there. I love the way the CCA looks on the EG coupes.

Hell yeah, it looks like it's perfectly centered too. Very nice. I was about to do a test fit myself. I still have some work to do though.

BTW, change that emblem. :-X

Oh yeah! It looks P.I.M.P.!! Yeah Anthony hit the nail on the head with those measurements!! I have the centered tanks, I think the offset tanks may have worked a little better, but it still fits like buttah! I can't wait til there is pressurized air going through that bitch.

The emblem will be taken off post haste!

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

nice..
does it fit without trimming the grile?

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

Is that a shopping cart wing i see on the back of that eg in the first pic?

Xplocivic 03-14-2004 05:52 PM

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

no, its a drag wing. I know its borderline rice but it actually looks very good on the car.

Yes, I could have kept the grill, but you have to trim a little off of the back to make it sit flush against the IC.

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

I initially cut out the grill with aviation snips, but then I was like ---- it and I sawzalled the hell out of it. I'll eventually take the dremel to it and clean up the lines.

Nice man...I'm going to try at least make my intecooler be fixed in the middle and not sit crooked all over the place.

Xplocivic 03-14-2004 09:00 PM

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

Its almost as if the CCA just kinda falls into place tucked right up underneath the main support. [Ace Ventura] Like a Ga-love!! [/Ace Ventura] ;D

Dr.Boost 03-14-2004 09:11 PM

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

I noticed that. On the EG's they seem to belong there. It's like Honda new what was going to be done. I have renamed the bumper support, the "Intercooler support beam". :)

On an EF it isn't as perfect though. Some serious hacking of the bumper is involved, but you know it's worth it. 8)

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

did you also have to notch the front corners of your mounting tabs? i just notched mine with a dremel and it fell in like it belonged there.

Xplocivic 03-14-2004 09:51 PM

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

I haven't notched them yet, but I plan on it. It doesn't really make a huge difference, but it will look a little nice when the bumper is off. No big deal, though. I did find it a little tighter when I was putting the bumper back on, like where it mounts to the fenders behind the headlights.

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

The intercooler looks great!! To fit mine in.. i took the easy way out... i had a 9 inch metal grinder... ya, it melted the crap out of it, but it is my bad bumper anyway, so i wasn't to worried about it. I think any civic in general looks that much better with a nice fmic on it :)

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

I used the softest stainless wire wheel on a cordless to clean it up.Then I used 220grit,320,400(wet sand),600(wet sand),mediun steel wool and then fine steel wool. That gets it Ready for Mothers Aluminum polish on a bufing wheeel on the end of a cordless drill.Get your sunglases and wipe the mothers polish off.BLING,BLING!!

Its not as hard as it sounds. It took me 1/2 hour to do it.Well worth it IMO.

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

Oh BTW, the only other thing I had to do to make it fit right was relocate the horn. I just screwed it down in the engine bay where there was an empty hole.

Thanks for the good words from eveyone. I am glad they work so well on the Civics. That size seems to fit most cars well.
Can we put your car on the Customer Rides page of our web site?

Jake, always on the ball. Called out the wing, and then noticed that Custom Coach has the baddest intercoolers ever. Good job yet again.
Nice IC Xplocivic. Those headlights are contradicting themselves. They're stealth, yet thier taiwan. (I can't decide) :D

Xplocivic 03-16-2004 09:10 PM

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

Thanks Stevarino. The headlights, in my opinion look really good on the car. I wanted everything to be black and as far as black housing headlights go, those look the best. Especially when combined with the black corners. So the only silver you will see contrasting to the black on my car will be the silver lip of my wheels, my exhaust, and that beautiful FMIC.

Re:Mounted my CCA FMIC Today!!

Yes, they do look nice. The part that bothers me is the region of manufacturing. lol
