more torque than HP???

is it possible to make more torque than hp on a honda motor? with my car going to be done soon, im starting to help a buddy with his turbo project, a DA integra ls with usdm itr pistons ( 10.3:1 c/r) the set up will basiclly be a fmic, super 60 t3 .48/.60, 450's,pr4 with turbo edit, blah blah, about 8-9 psi........but i have seen the ls motors make close to the same hp and tq numbers before...could a high compression ls with boost possibly make more tq than hp?

Re: more torque than HP???

i think i saw some A-series motors putting out sick torque figures, but who cares. just build it to make a ton of both

That's right, my A series is torquey as ----

when i did a base run on my setup i put down 167hp and 172tq. that was on the afc hack and very untuned! i now have TE and other better parts so i know i'm making more power. this is on a d16a6

Re: more torque than HP???

Look at some dyno sheets of bigger motors with smaller ball bearing turbos. HP is just how much torque it can apply in a given time (same torque but double rpm's = double hp [bad est.]). If the motor can't rev high or the turbo can't feed the motor up above, a small fast spooling turbo will crank to xxx lb/ft torque and drop off. I think on turbod16.com their dyno sheet collection has a few t3's that manage this.

Re: more torque than HP???

it's a really dumb idea. Since HP and TQ are mathematically related, anything over 5250rpm will have more HP and anything under will have more TQ. Making power is all about flowing air, and small displacement multivalve engines flow at high RPM, so why would you want to avoid that?

Besides, HP > TQ because gearing can make TQ where there was none, as long as there was HP, but cant go the other way.

Re: more torque than HP???

if you use long intake manifold runners you should have a sick torque curve

Re: more torque than HP???

maybe i'm confused but ,i thought you cant have HP w/out torque, being as HP is derived from Torque.
