mini-me turbo *VIDS*
Well i wen tto the track last night to see what kind of times the turbo mini me would put out. First run on the basemap was 14.473 @ 94.75 (2.3 60ft), then played around with fooks tune and made a few modifcations...and it ran great!!! next run was a 14.8 @ 96.8...because i wasnt planning on spinning the tires through 3rd. Then i planned for that and my best time on street tires was 14.250 @ 99.18 (2.237 60 ft).
Then i tried slicks.... 15.4 @ 66 ???? WTF???? pics deleted sorry, links dead. (holes in block, and no rod, rod broke and shaterred the crankshaft in half, wrist pin tore right out of the piston) More to come, we still have to get the videos uploaded...and ill get some pics when i take the motor apart. She was fun, now i need a new one. O0 |

more pics up later once i tear it down. looks like the pistons shattered (notice a perfect, unbroken piston ring in one of the photos). then the rod kept rotating around and shredded the girdle, and the front and back of the block, and itself. the rod is still attached to the crank, and you can rotate it around. bearings never spun (too bad, who knows til its apart).
10 psi, a slightly modified fook's tune. 14b / hf d15b7/z6 mini me. high compression...too much power. who knows. maybe i had a boost spike. it happened too fast. i dont know. the run with the slicks was so slow because that was when the rod snapped. it snapped at 800 ft, thats when i shut down and started braking. so 15.4 isnt bad, considering the mini me alone ran a 16.1. videos and pics should be up the beginning of next week. oh, it will definetly be rebuilt. maybe try a z6 this time. and there are big plans for a recent purchase i made. |

dude that was a awesome and yet crappy night. awesome in hoe big a hole is in your block and how they had to shut the track down for the rest of the night due to so much oil being on the track. and yet majorly sucking in the whole blowing you motor being without a car and getting towed back to your house at 1:40 am lol but still was a cool night despite all that. put another disposable d in there and boost till she blows again. dime a dozen :6

if you would have read the thread instead of just watching the vid you would realize that this is the video of the run where i blew my motor. i shreaded the wrist pin right out of the piston and bent and snapped a rod, throwing it through the front and back of the block, and cutting right through the girdle.
best time was the run right before i blew... 14.25 @ 99.18 (in my sig) just read... i was pretty happy with the car and the times. it probably wouldnt have blown if i hadnt accidently reved it to 8500 twice. |

That is some good work right there. Me, I don't think you can be truly a backyard mechanic until you've got some bent or broken rods hanging up on the wall. Sort of a trial by fire type of deal.
I wish i still had pictures of my VW bug rods from a motor I built when I was 14 - Note to users: a high lift cam and stock valvesprings is not advised. ::) |

I think the problem is the bottom end. It's only a D15B7. 8500 is a good way to mess up your head too. Then again you're going B and don't care so whatever. I don't think those times are really that bad at all. Considering the turbo size, tires, motor, tune, etc. So good job. :y

the 8500 was NA on a ebay chip i was running for 1 week before boost. after it was tuned the limiter was at 6800.

ha ha my number 4 piston on my mini me look exactly like your but big end of the rod is jam to the crank and the rod is in little piece
2&3 piston ring land broke and nb1 bend the rod break ring land d15b2+y8 head+y8 intake 10psi small ass kkk k14 turbo |

this one took a beating with the 8500 rpms when it was NA. and then it was just a little too advance. and i still dont know exactly what happened. it might have spiked, as i was having issues with my wastegate. who knows. it held fine on the base tune. once we advanced the timing, it came on so much stronger. but no detonation. just made a bit too much power on a block that had already had the piss revved out of it.
2 missed shifts on the gay ebay chip, limited 9200... = 8500 RPMS then i would rev it daily to 7000-7200 limiter at the track was like 6800 or so. stock fuel cut on the b7 is what like 6400 or 6800 ? i think it just took too much abuse, but thats the purpose of the D ;D |

you shift out of 1st a little early and a ---- load early in second ... that a 13 second car with a 15 second driver , got luck and ran a 14 .. ;D

yeah that spinning tire pass was TERRIBLE. i wasnt used to spinning the tires, and shifted WAYY to early out of second, dropped to like 3500-4000 rpms. it was only my second time at the track. and the first time was the mini me NA ran a 16.1 with full stock exhaust, so it wasnt that complicated to drive. i definetly have tons of room for improvement just in drving my car alone.
as far as hotrex goes...i was going to post up that vid of him and the gsr turbo knstall where they are creaming their pants over 5 psi...but most of the HMT vid links are down. stock LS swap, and then an LS-vtec build are in teh works |

I've pulled the front end out as best I can, but I need a new radiator support to determine exactly how much more I need to as mine was fairly well mangled. Right now I'm driving a 97 2.5L Acura TL, but I won't be taking it to the track any time soon :) |

Who said I had a racecar? The bottom line is, 4 dr civic = heavier than CRX....All those cars u listed...Most if not all of them were boosted right? CRX with the same HP would rape them all. So If i was gonna drop money into a car to make it fast, I'm gonna pick the car that'll be faster with the same (if not less) money spent in the end. And i'd have more posts on this site if i gave a ---- about boost a few YEARS ago...And i wouldve cared more about boost a few YEARS ago if i didn't have my LICENSE SUSPENDED...Dick.

haha. calm down dude, im just playing around. the 4 door has been gutted, its not as light as a gutted crx. but its what i had, have, and its what i use.
hebijake's civic, and shanerv's civic were NA, the others were boosted. mine was a budget build.. car=$600 headswap=200 tranny=100 turbokit=600 $1500 = low 14 second car with a beginner driver....i was pretty happy. ill agree with you if i put that exact setup in a gutted crx id probably be in the mid to low 13's. but you also wouldnt expect anything out of a 4door, especially from people with your mindset. |

dude this is the last time get OFF THE JUICE!!!! can somebody say roidrage. haha anyways other then crx's the 2dr's are usually heaver then a 4dr. look it up sometime hebijakes 4dr 93 civic ex was like 2200 or 2300 lbs his 94 ex 2dr was like 2600. same goes with my 97 civic it's a lot lighter then a 99-00 si so I say ROCK THE 4DR's they never see us coming just goin past. O0
