all I can give you info on right now is that the military has a program, that helps you with your bills that you have before you jon up, its called the soldiers and sailers act, its works with the companies to lower, or iliminate your interest rates, and also there are a lot of credt unions that will consolidate all you bills, its not bad, and also free credit counceling...the air is a good choice, and I assumed that you have not signed any contract yet so you if you decided not to go along with it you still have time to pull out..hope that helps

whats up? im in the army 82nd airborne..i get paid to jump from perfectly good airplanes and shoot people...its fun at first but gets old quick. ive been deployed for the btter part of 3 years between afganistan and iraq.

the facts are when your in dep you dont have to go if you dont feel you want to.. just say..i dont want to be in the military.

but airforce isnt all that bad. the worst part is just being away from family.
I joined to have money for school. which i get out in november and start wyotech in january so it has my wondering what ill be doing for work.. Im going to the blairsville pa campus.

but if you went into the airforce. when they deploy they go to iraq or whatnot but they stay at the airforce base. if you get a job as say a load master at pope airforce base. where im stationed at pope/ fort bragg nc. you come in load us in to planes fly around for a hour or 2 then watch us jump out. thats about it.

good luck...choose wisely school....airforce...or school and airforce at the same time

I wanna go to school, But I want to go to a school in California. And another thing. The officer that gives us our pep talks keeps telling us that if we bail out now and decide to go back again later they won't want us. Because the Air Force has met their quotas for the next like 3 years. They're actually looking for reasons to get rid of people and they;re trying to get the older Enlisteds to retire. And If I decide to bail out I want to know that I can come back if I want.

Until you hit boot camp, I wouldn't trust anything that anyone tells you. The fact is, the military is always hiring, and by you backing out, they will still take you.

I got an article 15 and got kicked out, and this army recruiter still insisted that he check my re-enlist code to see if I could ever go back and I told him, "dude, I'll eat a 12 gauge before I do that ---- again".

The point is, this isn't harvard, it's the military. They'll take you back.

take out a student loan and go to school, unless you wanna be sandblasted in the desert. and rudeboy and robbieshonda hit things right on the head.

I'll put it to you strait.. a recruiters job is to tellyou anything he can to meet a quota. he will do and or say anything he can to decieve you into joining and then he will lie to get you to sign up for a longer period of time..

If you decide no i want to go to school first so you decide you dont want to go to basic (which i would do ) you will still be able to joing later. because right now you havent joined youve only applied...but in the military your already accepted.

somethings might sound familier with the lies....say you want to join for 2 years and want some money as a bonus.. you can get upto 20,000....but they will lioe and say if you enlist for 2 years i can only give you 5,000 cash. its a lie,, then he will say well if you enlist for 4 years i can give you 11,000 and for 6. i can give you 20,000..

they pay really inst worth it either. im a e-4 yes they pay for my house food and what not but it really isnt enough..
base pay i think is like 1700, a month maybe. add 150 for jumping from planes but i have a car payment insurance my house utilitys food i have to get a haircut everyweek pay for uniforms to get sewn all my military gear that iosnt issued (pretty much everything) so all in all you scrape to get by month to month..but you do get benfits too.

there never a such thing as im sorry the military is over booked

once all MY bills are paid, not including my wifes, after we buy groceries and all that good ----, we dont have much left. car payment, rent, utilities, other ----...no savings what so ever. I to am an E4 with the same amount of time in as robbieshonda. (I think he has about 4 months on me)

I think with my allowance for housing and everything, I make about $25K a year. -im suspossed to support myself and my wife on that. including rent, cars, everything.
I think I made that in highschool. Ohh yeah, and you have to keep up on uniforms, inspections, you WONT want to eat at the chowhall 3 times a day, so you will wanna go out to eat, more money, usally about $10 either way you look at it...just trust me. dont join for the money.

Dont join the military for the pay, because it will suck. If you have 0 bills you might be alright. I mean 0 bills. Yeah, you get "free" meals, and a "free place to live" but its a room about the size of a dorm, you live with another guy, you are restricted like a mother ******, its not all that its cracked up to be. Ive been told that the air-force lives the best out of all the branches, but im not sure how true that is...

there is alot of ---- the recruiter isnt telling you.

my wifes sister is in the airforce.. no organized pt(physical training) more time off airforce would be the eqivelent of a 9 to 5 job...army way different marines way diffrent navy 6 month on a boat dont think i would go well with that. but atleast your not getting shot at out in the dessert.
there are good things about the military and bad.. good thing is if your an imature person(dont know you so i cant say) they will force you to grow up fast and you will a very respected person when your out. so in away its worth it. you get some hella good training and get to play with ---- youll never get to touch out of the military

and a bad thing of course pay. i made 22.50 an hour before i came into the military..now i make ---- and have nothing to show for it except abunch of stories about the days i had my truck get blown up or the time i hiked up a mountain in afganistan just to enjoy the scenery and get shot at..

but all in all ill leave you with if you jopin dont take no for an answer listen to what the recruiters say and demand more. if they say they cant walk away they will call you with a better offer. it their *** on the line. and make sure you prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

explore your options before you decide and good luck

If you thought your might have changed your mind you shouldnt have signed up! You should be proud you are given the chance to serve your country. screw yourfriends the new friends you make in the military will be the best friends you ever make in your life and will share a bond NOT found in civilian life. Why do you wanna be a freaking civy dammit. The airforce is downsizing, there not even accepting prior service. Sounds like your one of those guys whos gonna get to bootcamp and cry because he misses home and ends up going nuts and getting shipped home. To that one guy who responded from the 82nd airborne...WHATUP dude Im also Airborne.
