Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

So Im selling my old turbo set up that was for my CRX that never made it in the car...since someone else decided that my CRX looked better stripped on the side of the road before I could put it in....

A kid called me at work (I asked him to) and is interested in the kit I have on Ebay, he wants to give me 300$ for it. Of course I am happy with that, and we arranged to meet at a pretty public place.

But Ive got a feeling....this kid could barely speak english on the phone to me, and really didnt seem to know a whole lot about turbo kits, let alone an incomplete homemade kit. Apperently he's got some engine out of a car for a few days and needs my turbo "Right AWAY" Then he starts going into the details of me helping him out.
(I want no part of that...that's why Im selling this stuff to get rid of all of it)

So....should I meet this character, and get my 300 bones? Or is he gonna thump me over the head run away?

Or am I just being too damn paranoid....damn I would have not given this a second thought 5 years ago...see what age does to you!!

right ruger.. forgot about that one. .45acp is always a pimp cartridge, nothing matches a 1911a1 tho. Colt Generic baby!

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

Well Im selling the stuff to 45psi...and also giving him anything that was going into the C-rex....

You know, Ive been really thinking hard about a handgun latley. I always said as soon as I was married and had a family Id get one for some protection, and send everyone to NRA for certification maybe sooner is better then later...

Seems my brother's armed too, just found a bunch of .45 rounds under the seat of his VW (my secondary ride while he's in AK fishing)

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

I always wanted to get a handgun, but the problem is I don't have a clue which one would kill someone with one shot. I'd be disapointed if it didn't. I think the secret is in all of those numbers. 9, 38, ect.... ???

Doofnoil 05-25-2004 07:11 PM

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

get a .357 mag and grimace like dirty harry before you blast somebody away.

Dr.Boost 05-25-2004 07:13 PM

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

Shoot anybody in the right spot or use the right bullet and you're almost guarenteed a kill. In our CCW class they showed us a bunch of videos of different caliber and different style bullets. The .357 magnum with a "Glaser safety slug" will blow a ------- hole through your car door and rip a 6 inch hole out of your ass. That is a mean mother fucker. I couldn't believe how much damage that one bullet caused. The funny thing is it's designed to be a home protection specialty bullet so if you blow some dudes ass out of his face the bullet won't rip across the house and kill your bitch sleeping in bed. I've been wanting to exchange my hollow point .45 for a mag full of those bad dogs. 8) I'd hate to clean up the mess after that. :-X

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

it's really a matter of personal preference, and budget. You basicly need $500 to spend on something nice.

I normally carry a revolver with me; cheap, reliable, not worried if I drop it in water. Revolvers do pack more punch then their auto counterparts but the problem with them is aiming. I would much rather get shot by a 9mm then a .38, even though the bullets have almost the same size diameter (9mm = .355, .38=.357). It's all about the grain weight on the bullet and how much gun powder. Yeah that big ole short .45acp slug has a grain weight of 230, but it travels really slow (muzzle velocity) at around 800 feet per second.

Take a .357 magnum and that packs a bullet that can travel at 1400 f.p.s. grain weight varies from 120-190, less grain means more room for gunpowder. The .357 has no problem ripping thru ---- either, the .45 tends to stop soon.

Muzzle flip is another concern in picking a handgun, automatics have a toned down flip, especially if you get something like a compensated glock, many titanium revolvers are ported to reduce flip as well.

Weight, size, ammo capacity, reliability all weigh in here (don't forget budget). If you go with a semi auto, get something high quality, but that's mostly personal opinion. I like sig sauers and glocks are nice too. Something cheap and decent would be the S&W 5900 series. If you want straight out reliability, go for a revolver, Checkout the taurus 617 titanium 357.. phat ----.

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

Damn quadnie, you know quite a bit about everything. ;)

I swear I can almost see my .45 slugs coming out of the barrel. If you shoot out into the air(no, not straight up)you can see the bullet. They are very slow, but I'm not going to be sniping with it. If it ever gets used in a manner where it matters, it's going to be up close and personal. I guarentee the receiver of the bullet won't be dodging it, nor walking away with his life. ;)

I like Glocks too. I wouldn't go with a compact though, unless you have very small midget hands(kain). Those fuckers feel out of control. I don't like not being able to hold a grip with all of my grip. The full sized Glocks are very nice. My buddy has had a few problems with his, but he abuses his ----. :-\ It's been dropped in the dirt and man-handled. My guns are like new.

I think my next purchase will be a Beretta 9mm-ish. I need something a bit smaller than the beastly .45, but not something as small as a compact Glock. I don't want to feel like I'm holding a girls gun.

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

there's a snub nose on the market that can hold .45's as well as .410 cartridges. that's one hell of a belly gun.

quadnie 05-25-2004 07:41 PM

Re:Meeting a "Shady" Buyer...

You mean the sub-compact guns are for the midgets? Nothing wrong with a glock 17/23 which are the compact class. They have a 4 inch barrell vs a fullsize 5 inch barrel. The most common full size glock would be the g19 wich is a 9mm. Certain serial numbers have known problems with them, particularly the sights falling off (I think the ones in the E range).

The g26 is the shitty little woman's gun that would probably fit kain perfectly. Small guns do have their purpose man, make great backup weapons, fit inside your pockets real well for better concealing. If I'm not strapped with a piece in a holster, I like to pimp it with one of the sub-compacts in my front pocket.

You either completely love glocks or completely hate them. Your friend shouldn't be so rough on a gun like that, they aren't made to take abuse, want to treat a gun like that go get an old rusted .38 revolver.
