Thats where you're wrong...thats like saying that books can't contain symbolism. Yes, alot of action movies are just bullshit but the Matrix was entirely different. Thats what set it apart (and of course the revolution in special effects).

Sorry if i'm reapeating myself, just had 6 beers and a shot in the hot tub . anyway, researcher, you are an ***-clown. It's called intelligent discussion, regardless of what the inital motivation was. Since you lack the mental capacity to grasp the concept of anything above saying "dude, ---- that," please shut your face and don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Anyway, too drunk to read all of the post, here's what it sparked in me. What exactly is Reality? would you wan't to know? for instance, in the movie, that wierd bald guy who sold everyone out in the first movie, was honestly where I would be. If the truth is more horrible than your current situation, would you want to be awakened to it? or would you wan't to remain in ingnorance? If it were up to you, knowing both circumstances, which realtiy would you choose, forgetting the other one completely? Honestly, I would choose to forget. In my life now, everything is fine. I have everything I need, and I seemingly have a goal in life. If I were umplugged into a reality where I was a slave, fighting for my very survival, when I could just forget it all, and live as I do now, that's what i would choose.

I definitely don't feel like getting involved in this mess that has been started with theology, but I'll give you my quick and dirty comments on the matrix.

Saw the first movie when it came out to video, thought it was cool, a cutting edge flick.. nothing more, didn't make me want to join a cult or watch it every single night to catch the "hidden meanings"

Then I watched Jackie Chan's Legend of Drunken Master (I'm pretty sure that was the one).. hadn't seen it for a while, but I then made the connection.

The matrix stole all the fight sequences from that movie, it was so ------- pathetic to see all the same moves that got ripped. I immediately went from "I guess the matrix was kinda cool" to "---- that flick"

I don't mean any offense to you people who take this ---- way too seriously, but come on that movie was flakie

I'm not a sci-fi expert but I do dig sci-fi & old school horror flicks (I love me some godzilla now and then), the matrix just used a standard "machines taking over" plot, added some new age special effects (that you can also find in many import asian flicks - check out Time & Tide). Added a bunch of bullshit to make all the 15 year olds want to see the movie 3 times in a row.

Sorry, but it's over rated bullshit. The brothers who created/directed it just pulled something out of their *** and now they are rich, and keep getting richer (which is what is on their mind). The sequals to #1 simply were able to float by via reputation. Keanu Reeves can't act his way out of a card board box, most likely got the role from his appearance in Johnny Mnenonic. Lawarence Fishbourne, I like his work, prob got the role from Event Horizon. Agent Smith (Hugo Weavers or whatever) is a famous british actor, does good work, was a cool character - just in the first one.

Now taking into consideration I'm mostly a matrix basher, nobody take too much offense this next part, it's only personal opinion.

I hate to pull the race card in any situation since it always stirs the ---- up, but come on, the 2nd and 3rd matrix were completely racist. Not racist against minority (black/mexican) people but against white people. Why is it that the only natural human survivors are all black? It seriously turned into a "it's cool to be black" thing that got completely fucked up when they started that stupid underground zion festival dance thing. They would have made it a lot smoother if they just kept the population even count to what you would find on the streets of NYC (all races, equal) rather then ---- with the whole makeup of the surviving human race. The third one just plain out sucked, no need to even touch it.

So in summary, yeah they had some good technology in making the movie and used some okay scientific plot but it was just completely fucked up.

Chacko, you're a smart guy, you should go write your own super sci fi plot.. some low budget indie movies are the best ones.

Sorry to stir the ----, some of you may completely hate me after this post, doubt I will find someone that says they competely agree but I don't really care. You wanted some opinion, you wanted some good gossip to go around aside from ****, you got it.

The standing theory is that because all of the craddle of humanity started in Africa, and so these are the "first" of the people of the real world.

I don't see the similarities in the drunken boxing and the matrix, the fighting sequences are entirely different...they're mostly computer animated and wire-fu.

No, they didn't just sit down and write this out of their head. They obviously spent a great deal of time plotting this out, there are easter eggs to notice in the movie, such as the "111" on Neo's door or the fact the book he pulls the CD out of is "Simulation and Simulacrum" there are many little things like this that prove that this was more then just a cheesy action movie.

Hugo Weaving is who you were talking about, and I believe he played the role of the Agent Smith very well. Will Smith was actually originally cast to play the role of Neo, and Alliyah as Naobi (imagine that?) but Will turned it down as it seemed to be to non-comical for him or rather, not his style. Keanu was chosen because of his roles in Johnny Nemonic and the fact that he acts like a "robot". His special **** poor acting skills made him the perfect "one".

**** poor acting, lol.

Damn dude, you need to find a better hobby. You pretty much showed me up on some of my points just be your in-depth nerdy knowledge of the ------- flick. I'll give you that.

Well I didn't know about the whole african thing, guess it makes sense, but they could have surely down without all that ------- tribal dance crap in the middle of the second.

And no, the styles of drunken boxing are nothing like any modern day flick you would see, that has it's own place in old school kung fu movies. Watch legend of drunken master again, hell I will send you the divx copy I have if it will open your eyes. It's the fight sequences they had in general that the matrix completely mocked. One thing I remember in particular was the kick neo did towards the end (of the first) and where he held his leg straddled in the air and pivoted his body. Man that ---- was compoletely ripped out of the final fight sequence (I think the bad guy fighting against jackie chan did it). Me my brother, and brother in law (all sci fi/kung fu movie junkies) were sitting down a year ago watching it and we all said "what the ---- is this ----".

It's dissapointing truth, but I'm sure someone else out there will second me on that one.

Either way, you took my potential negative post and showed me up with your detailed ------- stupid facts of the movie. Good job, and get a life man. ha ha

It was a joke man, lighten up.. you're taking this ---- way too seriously.

As I mentioned in my first post on this thread - I'm not out to offend anyone. You wanted opinions you got them. You disproved some of my slanderous thoughts on the matrix and I gave you credit for that. Still sounding childish?

Let's see.. am I a high school dropout? Read some of my other posts and determine that for yourself.

Wow... I actually read some (mmostly whatever was posted and quoted on page 2) and this ---- is pretty interesting. Chacko, gotta give it to you, you do some indepth thinking.

I still don't care too much for the Matrix, never took it too seriously other than a method to kill time, maybe I'll see more into it when I watch it next time, or maybe I won't :P.

So remember this, if you are racist, you hate yoself, cause we all black ------.
