A little more information than the original post.

He credits the truck's longevity to good, consistent maintenance and a load of luck. He changes the oil and gets a tune-up every 3,000 miles, drives easy on the gas and breaks and hasn't had a significant collision, he said.

The truck has had four radiators, three gas tanks, five transmissions and six water pumps, but its 350 cubic-inch engine shows no signs of wear, he said. It has never been overhauled and still sports its original gaskets, valve covers and timing chain.
I have a hard time seeing the head not needing to be cleaned up in a million miles. A million miles on a timing chain is a lot. This guy seems like he is pretty ---- about taking care of his truck though. I'm not sure what they call a tune-up, but one every 3000 miles probably was $80-100 every week or two. That's pretty costly.

ya its a miracle the timing chain lasted that long usually they get streched. but if he drives it easy it might to have streched, and it might be a double roller chain which is much better than the old ones.

6 water pumps in a million miles is a miracle too :)

no ---- some parts had to be replaced. did you expect them to still be original by this time?

My chevy blazer was up near 650,000.....interior was replaced twice, once due to a fire, the second to choice, many water pumps, stock block beat to hell. thing just wouldn't stop running. this was the 4.6l Chevy blazer..

Then i got sick of the thing and let the shitbox get towed from unpaid parking tickets.

A million miles is long as ------- hell to look at the same old truck
