Re:Maaco?

$300 a year is less than a cell phone cost... With macco you can change the color of your car once a year and the paint will always look fresh...

Not saying they do a good job, but if you pay $2000 for a paint job that lasts 10 years, that's $200 a year ( not to meantion that its going to have damage from road garbage ) for one color that you may not like after 2 years and its most likely going to get scrached or keyed if your an ass whole like me.

$300 a year is a fair price to pay for fresh paint, plus after about 5 years, you'll have a 5 layer paint job, heheh.. ;D

cost me 2200 CDN$, but my uncle did it. that pic is 2 years after painting. still glossy.

It should of cost me near 5g for that paint job. Gotta love family members w/ skills like that.

moral of the story. you get what u pay for. A good way to save some money is to do prep work your self. Drive around where the paint shops are in your area and look in the parking lots of the shops for cars that look cherry. go in and get a price with you doing prep work.

---- macco! I had my truck painted at macco and it's chipping everywhere. They even missed a bunch of spots in the back of my bed. They also forgot to paint the inside of my tailgate. Those ------- retards did some bodywork to and forgot to do a few spots and tried to tell me I didn't ask them to do those spots. They ------- suck ass nobody should ever go there and the only reason I did is because I wanted my truck one color since the bed didn't match the cab. I could have rattle canned it better.

.....OR, instead of Macco you could dip your sock in a Latex paint bucket....Seriously thats what it is like they use one type of paint for every aplication, clearcoat extra...

Look into painting it yourself if you are this desperate. You can actually rent paint booths w/decent guns. Decent paint (PPG delstar Acrylic Enamel) shouldnt cost more then 300$ at a paintshop, I can throw a few coats on my CRX with just a few pints.

Go to the local library and check out some books on auto painting, or go to the bookstore. They do a really good job explaining things. Its not hard to do at all, just takes a detail oriented person.

This winter, my cousin and I are going to paint with a 2 stage urathane paint....I cant wait, it'll cost about 600$ in paint, Ask for Urathane at Macco and you might get a funny look

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, go to Maaco to get your car painted unless you want it to look even worst than before the paint. I did one time, the paint never shined, and when I tried to go back because of the supposed 1 year warranty to get it fixed they said it was my fault because I did not take care of the paint properly. ---- THEM, Save some money and try to get a better shop to do it.

Re:Maaco?

if you dont get the shittiest paint package from them it isnt bad...a friend of mine wanted his silver truck blue, and paid 800 at maaco...turned out beautiful and is still that way two years later...he went in just as they were about to spray and tipped the guy like 50 bucks i think and they did a kick ass job for the retards they usually are (like when they screwed up my dads 300 paint on his van)

Re:Maaco?

They also painted my friends 93' 5.0 coupe from $800 and did a good job, I didn't even know it had been painted..

Re:Maaco?

The basic paint is horrible but if you spend 600+ the paint really is that bad. Not great but I have had a couple friends have there cars painted there and they look alright. If you really want something nice save up and spend 1500+. If you just want something to cover up and not really looking for anything great it's not a bad idea.
