Maaco?
 

Anyone ever get their car painted there or know anyone that did and hows it holding up or even heard anything cause im hearing mixed ----...i just wanna give my baby a little life but im on a slight budget and dont have 2 gs to drop on a dope ass paint job thanks

You get what you pay for. My cousin got her car painted for like $300 at Maaco and you can tell it only cost $300. It seemed to last out in the sun, but it just didn't look good. :-\

My dad taught body work for about 15 years, so now whenever we need bodywork done on our cars, we do it ourselves. If I wanted to paint my whole Civic, it would cost about $250-350 just for the paint and clearcoat, and that's not even expensive paint. Maaco is doing something really shady if they're doing it for $300-400 total, because they're using some lousy paint or something. Remember, they are making a profit every time they do those paint jobs, so their materials must cost around $100 per car... that's scary. I think they're using Krylon in a can.

Macco doesn't use any sealer-stuff that makes adhision between the metal, primer or old pain and the new paint, even though they should- they say they do, but a friend of mine worked at Macco as a painter some time ago told me that they don't use sealer. And instead of 2-3 coats of base coat and 2-3 coats of clear coat they use 1 coat of shitty ass single stage paint- some deluted shurman wiliams paint-----? I paint to so i know something about it ;D. If you want your paint to last better save up some money and get more or less deasent paint job. Good luck!

BlueHatch is right, they use a single stage paint which contains the "clear coat" in the paint, so really they only spray a few coats of this crappy paint and thats it. It doesn't hold up well to the sun and especially solvents or road salt. Just as Doc said "You get what you pay for". If your looking for a good paintjob, expect to pay quite a bit, but at least it's quality and will last.

My 300 dollar job didnt last a year, before it faded, chipped, is flaking in some edges, well, its been over a year now, but still, my rust came back through it, so i dont mind going cheap, i didnt waste a good paint job.

It fades really bad though, i just replaced my washer nozzles for stoci, smaller ones, and the paint underneath is much darker than the rest of the paint. They also do a shitty jon at masking, alot fo my black rubber trim, especially the sunroof area, is has overspray.

Go to 1 Day Paint if there's one around.

I got my car painted there with dings and dents removal for about $500 in 1996 or so. And the paint is still glossy and shiny when it's washed. Besides the normal wear and tear, rock chips and abuse :P, there's very little paint imperfections.

I don't mean to generalize :P but anything sherwin-williams is complete garbage. You'd be better off with a ssautochrome turbo manifold. ;D
