Re:low carb/atkins diet
I have been on and off it for a while. I dropped about 20lbs in 4-5 months on it. I thought it was going to be bullshit too until I read about it. They are not saying you can't eat carbs (although you are greatly restricted for the first 2 weeks). It is all about controlling your blood sugar and forcing your body to use something other than only carbs for energy. Only the refined sugars and carbs are what you are strictly not allowed to eat. Towards the time I was at the end of the diet (it was for my wedding) I was up to about 60 grams of carbs a day, which is actually alot if you eat good carbs. However, the way most people think about it is "thats only two cokes". Also, I come from a long line of family that has had diabetes, and Atkins does help in that respect because it keeps your blood sugar from going through all of those paeks and valleys. Just my .02

those of you who have not read up on it and only think that you "just stop eating carbs and that's it", you're all wrong, it's not just a short term diet, it's a lifestyle that you have to stick with forever in order to keep the results/success. it's not for everyone, i started it a while ago when i was being lazy and started gaining weight, for the first two weeks, you take in 30g of carbs at the most, then, you slowly up it every week until you see the weight loss almost stop, then you find out how many g's of carbs you can take in and maintain the same weight. i don't need to be on it any more since i've started lifting again, but i got so use to it that i still don't eat bread, pasta, or starches, i don't count carbs in other foods, but i still don't eat the "main carb foods". you will have plenty of energy, if you took in no carbs at all (almost impossible unless you don't eat anything at all) for a while then you might have health issues, but the average american takes in way more than they need anyways, so this diet basically eliminates the extra carbs and allows you find out your ideal carb intake. it's a good diet for people with big appetites because you don't have to go around starving just lose some weight :P
by the way, you're all fat!
by the way, you're all fat!
