Lost thread: What to use for exhaust cutout?
I am really growing tired of having a loud exhaust. So, I'm planning to put on my stocker and make a homemade exhaust cutout. I have heard too many bad things about the e-cutouts and durability issues, so I figured I will make a manual cable activated cutout.
What I'm planning to do is to use a spare throttle body I have laying around and welding it onto a Y pipe which will in turn be welded into my downpipe.
Now the only thing that I am wondering about is what to use to open it up. I probably need something that will ratchet so that it will hold the t-body open (since it's spring loaded). Anybody have any ideas on what to use?

haha, I guess my post prolly doesn't make too much sense.
What I'm asking is what to use to control the cutout. Like what kind of cable, or what can I do to have it open and stay open and then be able to close back up.

lol, kyle and travis are both retarded, so Its up to me to help you out. Use a bicycle gear switch lever and cable, problem solved. That hardest part about what you are doing will be attaching the cast allumnium throttle body to the Y pipe. Good luck tho, post back here when you finish.

Any other ideas or thoughts?

oh, so you want to be all ghetto about it. I have a gas pedal and brake pedal I jacked from a maxima we were stripping when I was taking automotive classes, I'd rig something up with that next to the clutch if I was doing a homemade cutout.
