That is true, but there is a lot we don't need. We don't need to know about Mars. Nobody wants to go there anyways, so stop messin with it and failing at it. (I am quite aware that we have succeeded in man of our attempts to pull whatever info from that planet, but we also fail to fully complete many of these missions as well.

O.K. Where's the appreciation for a pioneering spirit?
I thought that the people on this site had some...considering the way we all work on our cars.
You know we would't have cars to work on if the people who were inventing them listened to all the naysayers. Remember the horse & buggy?
We wouldn't be living here in America if the Queen of Spain decided not to fund Columbus' explorations. She faced opposition but it was proven to be a worth while venture.
We don't rag on people when they miscalculate their A/F ratio & blow their engines...so why be so hard on NASA?
When something doesn't go exactly right on our turbo systems, we don't just tear it all out & forget about it. We keep trying to succeed. Even though there are times that we fail. This is what defines a "winner's attitude".
It's Human nature to explore. We also test, ask questions & find new ways of doing things. This is how we grow as a species.
What those people are doing at NASA is HARD. Real hard. Cut them some slack.

Nothing wrong with pioneering spirit but tell me what have we really learned from space exploration in the last 5 years that actually helps us as a society. Of course there is going to be technology advancements and so forth but really 50 million in a Nasa program or research for Cancer tell me what the general public will choose. How About more of the study effets of pollution on the planet we live on. I'm hard on these Nasa guys because they are suppose to be the best of the best yet they keep screwing up over and over again. If they actaully set out a mission and proved it's worth I may have a different point of view but really if we ever go to Mars what do we hope to find there. A planet that never had any life and no real gain for the human race.
