just pay the shipping. it isn't worth the hassle of having to drive 8 hours just to pick something up... i don't think i could put a price on the time i'd rather spend doing more important things.
it also depends on how it is shipped... ups? usps? how big? try to find a canadian distributor. i wanted a specific hood and searched high and low until i found a canadian distributor and they shipped it to me for only $100.
