Looking to pick up a newer TrailBlazer....... GM guys Chime in....

Well we just sold our pice of ---- 2002 ford escape. The trans went out, then the transfer case bearings went bad, then the cat went bad, then the oil pan gasket, then the balljoints, the list goes on and on....... ------- money pit. So Ive been looking at the 06 and 07 trailblazers. I know that all the chevys interor rattels and ---- after time, but what are some of the major problems they have? Thats where I would like some of you gm Technicians to chime in. It dose have a 4.2 straight six witch I thought was pretty pimp, and I will be getting the 4X4 one. We want a bigger suv for towing, camping, road trips and hauling our dog around in. SO whats up with them, are they piles or what?

my boy works at a body shop and says the frames are made formteh hardest steel hes ever seen. When he has to put them on the frame machine he can load it up with like 19 tons and it hardley moves or bends at all, so they can be expsenive to repair body wise.

thats what insurance and low deductables are for O0

as for the trailblazers, they are pretty decent suv's. the engines are strong and reliable as are the trans. obviously, you will find those that have had issues, but to put the few issues into perspective vs how many have not had those issues.... you can see where i am going.

plus GM is on the upswing with their warranties and such. just make sure you get the powertrain warranty and your golden.

I really like the mdx and the pilot but even used with all the options I that I want its a little out of my price range. I have 10k to put down and Im not going to spend more than $200 a month on payments.

I just got an 06 with like 28K on the clock and financed for about 19K, payments in the 240 range. Sticker said like 26 and change i think we got it for around 25 or something with a 2K dp. after that was done we told him we had a trade in and HAD to get like i think we said 5 for a 02 POS Sentra GXE.

Its loaded with leather heated seats and navi and i love it. drives like a big accord and moves pretty quick too out runs the inline 4 jeep and the mazdaspeed wagon thingys that are runnin around. 3rd row is usable gets great mileage IMO for what you get. had it for 3 months or something and still love it.

there is a big difference between the blazer and a gay pilot or mdx

you can pull ---- in the blazer and fit more people confortably.

you'll have a hard time pulling another pilot with a pilot ::)

ss blazer is awesome

Econo-Box 01-28-2008 07:57 PM

Re: Looking to pick up a newer TrailBlazer....... GM guys Chime in....

well it depends I suppose. True the Pilot is basicly like i said an overgrown accord. in no way would i resign it to towing duties unless it was like ATV, Waverunner varitey but for space the 3rd row folds flat and i had no problems loading 8x4 sheet of platics roofing to patch my shed.

Its a front wheel drive truck so even though it says "4x4" I know its hardly an AWD system. Its front wheels until they slip and i bet its like 30-40% to rear after that but it does have a setting that will lock it in 50 50 4x4 but only up to like 15 or something. so i expect it will do ok in the sand and goign up the mountian but i aint leaving the path with it thats for sure.

If you want a trail/towing vehicle pilot aint for you but other than that its a sweet ride.

Who would have thought you would be in here defending GM products and putting down anything else. ::) Have you ever owned one? Ever driven one? Have you ever driven a Pilot? Owned one? Where did you find these specs? :S

gee, johnny spews random bullshit facts out of his gaping -------, who knew? there is three ways the trailblazer beats the pathfinder. rimsize, numerical hp, and largest displacement engine. neither of those make it any better.

The problem with the pathfinder is that it dosent have a 100k powertrain warranty, and also they are about another 10k more than the trailblazer, and parts are alot more expensive. Ive never liked the pathfinders Ive evre driven. But then they were 2000 or older.

I really dont like anything GM makes, but the newer trail blazers arnt that bad. the 4.2L have plenty of power and dont have any major problems. Id say with the money u would spend on one buy 10 crx's O0

Good luck finding a 2007 pathfinder with leather, heated seats, navagation, 4X4, tow package, under 15000 miles, and still have 85000 miles worth of warranty left in them and this is for $20K

Its not that the warranty is the bigest thing, but knowing I dont have to throw a wrench at it for the 85,000 miles puts me at ease.

Honestly Ive had resepct for them after i saw that little 22r straight YOKE my jeep out of a creek. I mean i figured it could do it but the truck made it look waay easy, no strain at all. my uncle had that truck for around 15 years i think it had around 250K and ran fine when he sold it.

I have heard great things about the VW Taureg, comes in a TDI model also. Brother (works at a performance shop) did a tune up on one and took it out to test drive and was really impressed with it, same as everyone else at the shop. That says a lot to me for guys who build 950hp Cobras and 10 sec. WS6's all day long.

my mom had an 04 trailblaser ls. it guzzlede gas compared to my dads avalanche. but over all it was a great suv. my dad used to tow his 21ft bass boat with it. it had pretty decent pick up, and we dident have any problems with interior noises. it actually drove pretty smooth and quiet. i just thought the gas milage seemed a lil low

Get a used diesel crewcab pickup you -----. A few months ago there was a 2005 Dodge 6spd with a ton of bells and whistles like turbo upgrade, fat IC, air ride in the back for hauling, automatic sidesteps, 6 gauges including egt, banks exhaust, chip, and intake, mint black paint and blacked out wheels. Guess how much it was.. $35k. That bitch was on the lot 2 days before it was gone. My lady's bro was gonna get it but the dealer sold it out from under him.. so he settled for an 04 Duramax with an Allison for a bit less. With that said used crewcab diesels own, and you should find one. ---- gas suv's.

Well my wife is the one that is going to be driving this rig most of the time. To work and back. Its about 5 miles round trip. I dont care to much about rattles, My crx has solid mounts and it noisey as ---- inside. But it allways starts and runs. I just want the piece of mind of having a warranty. And the reason Im not getting a truck is because I allready have a 64 for f100 with a big block. I dont need a truck. I also want it to fit in my small garage. The trailblazer will fit in my garage with about 2 feet in front of it and in back, I know I couldnt get a quade cab truck to fit in my garage.
