Yep...that's right, finally a done ------- deal. I went out and bought myself a Getty Gas Station.

I will put up some more pics when it isnt pouring rain like it was today. Officially we take over on Friday. It's a 6 pump station with a small little convience store section where we will sell snacks, soda and cigarettes as soon as our state and local licenses are approved. We will be doing mostly general repair for local customers to start and slowly we want to build up ourselves as a respectable and honest performance shop. You dont know how hard it is to find an HONEST shop in Jersey, and you all hopefully know what my reputation brings to the table. I am hoping that any local HMTers will stop in at any time to say, introduce yourself and hang out if you have the time. We are friendly and open 7 days a week :l Hopefully in the next few weeks we will get the place all cleaned up, organized and make it respectable enough to have a little NE meet with some barbecue and pizza...and hopefully we have someone to do either a full HMT turbo install or just a small install or upgrade...whatever! Wish me luck...and stop in at anytime like I said. Hopefully this allows us to do some interesting projects and write-ups for the site. Also look for www.------------- to expand and start offering more products as we have the time and make the proper relationships to bring you the best stuff at the best deals we can find O0 |

It's interesting the way it works...I learned as I went along through the process. The land, building, pumps, tanks, lifts, compressor are all owned by Getty, they are also responsible for maintenance and upkeep of these things which is nice as it wont come out of my pocket. The tools and any other things are all owned by myself (and my business partner). We lease the space from Getty and they in turn supply us gas on a regular basis for which we are paid a commission. No matter what the price of gas is set (Getty sets all the prices), I only get $0.065 per gallon commission...thats it! Pennies...you really make $0 on gas sales. It basically pays for the rent and if you sell enough...may pay for the gas station attendants. Also...in NJ, you are not allowed to pump your own gas so you always have to have at least one pump attendant you are paying for at $7/hr... Where you make all of the profit is in sales for items in the mini-mart area and of course in the garage bays. It's a pretty neat business model...and because most everything is setup, you just have to follow the plan and manage the people well. |

wow, you really need to pimp the cigaretts and lotto then huh. The guy who owns a corner store by me says thats where he makes his money. You should try and find a niche to make sure you have a steady flow of customers, like carry something that most places don't

[/quote This place has so much potential its sick. This station used to pump 100k gallons per month...4 years ago. Now it only does 42k per month. He sells nothing special and the store area is ratty and dingy. There are 4! bus stops, two are on each corner of the property so there are mega commuters going through in the morning. So lots will be done...I cant wait, this is so friggen exciting! |

Your not allowed to pump your own gas becuase they figure its a saftey hazard. ::) I seriously get pissed when I have to get gas in Jersey cause you always have to wait for the dumb ------ to come and start filling your car up, than after its full you have to wait till he realizes it stopped pumping and than he has to drip gas on your car to remind you of his blackness. :-\ |
