Long time lurker...UPDATE BYATCH

I've been on this board w/ various names for the longest. I remember when Jeff was a regular on CRX Resource until he got booted and made this site... thank god he did. Anyway...here is my car... in all of its glory since winter break when I turbo'd her:

Car before with ugly charge pipes.

If you like DIY you'll understand why I like JB weld. Modded Starion IC 2.25 pipes jb-welded into the sides of the tank... it seems really strong.

Check my custom resevoir holder. 10 bucks shipped. Its made of some kind of expanded PVC... i duno... i got a bunch of it here in my mechatronics class @ school... and I can make all kinda of shapes with it. I might be making a custom center console out of it... because it can be shaped easily when placed in boiling water.

Your whole car looks good, I'm into it. Paint is nice on the car and the wheels. The only thing I can't dig on it though is the painted drum brakes in the back. I can tolerate painted stock front calipers, but bright red drums in the rear?

I used the cheapest HVLP gun I could find. I bought it from Pepboys. Ha. The paint was off the shelf ---- you find @ Murrays Discount Auto. 35 bucks for a gallon of black. My car is a moving Duplicolor commercial.

Better than rusty... "gonna get tentanus when you look at it" colored. I suppose I could do black or something... *shrug*

Your car ------- OWNZ, The only think I think is you'd be better off with ABS charge piping. other than that everything is sick

It is a fluxcore only welder. It was 80 bucks.. i mean really.. who cares. Those welds are pretty bad I know.. I got the setting down now and I can almost lay a consistent bead down. There is of course splatter and flux everywhere... but its easily cleaned. I'll take a pic or two next time I have the downpipe off.

I've been planning on getting some mandrel bent stuff... easier to just weld as much of it together and use a few couplers as possible. Where are you getting the ABS pipes from?

Xgenturbo 03-29-2005 05:16 PM

Re: Long time lurker... saying whats up.. *56k death*

Home Depot or RONA (in canada), Metal pipes conduct heat faster, I like ABS for 3 reasons, it does not conduct bay temps as fast, its cheap and its easy to work with and you dont have to weld it

CRXDrew 03-29-2005 05:51 PM

Re: Long time lurker... saying whats up.. *56k death*

where is there ABS pipes @ Home Depot.. I thought they just have PVC. Got any pics?

Xgenturbo 03-29-2005 06:23 PM

Re: Long time lurker... saying whats up.. *56k death*

PVC is the white/blue ----, ABS is black and will be in the same isle as the copper water pipes. there is also nice ABS 90* bends, i'd go with ABS, 2"

Yea...

Here are a few gay pics of my car driving home from school... when the smoke got pretty shitty: (needless to say i'm a bit pissed)

http://img187.exs.cx/img187/6964/img07847cx.jpg
http://img187.exs.cx/img187/7961/img07858ew.jpg

I need to fix that... It may have been a number of things that killed my recently rebuilt turbo.
-oil pressure to high (just bought a restrictor)
-thing wasn't balanced to begin with when i got it- perhaps rebuilt by someone else (I know i didn't see either side shaved etc for balancing purposes.
-rebuilding just made it more out of balance and it killed itself
:-\

This problem was obviously not prevented with the addition of the shocker sticker.
http://img187.exs.cx/img187/6910/img07835hk.jpg

And an interior pic... oh yea... look @ that tight ass guage cluster... red wOOt. Hopefully I can do a GSR/Si conversion on it.. that would be kinda cool. And rid myself of the baller cluster O0
